Susan

I don't know how they wrote this movie with a straight face. It was by far one of the cheesiest made for tv movies i've seen in awhile. The ridiculous dialogue (Yeah, i'm sure a little girl boarding her schoolbus is going to turn around to shout at her father.."have fun at the gym") And the girls who were saying that dork at the office was "all that and a bag of chips?"

I couldn't figure out how the scientist who ran out to get the gas for the generator died. Sure some locusts chewed on his skin but is that enough to kill a man? He wasn't bleeding profusely. Some of the worst acting i've seen, and all the references to the plague of locusts? Those meetings of the Homeland Security staff were laughable.

Whats next...Grasshoppers?

peter johnson

Yes Grasshoppers!!
A remake of The Beginning of The End -- with Ashton Kucher in the Peter Graves role --
Then . . . as I suggested . . . an all-TV-Star remake of . . . The Giant Leeches!!
Heck, Susan, you have good taste & a keen eye & all, but I really didn't find Locusts all that awful.  I think the actors all came up to the demands of their respective roles.

Flangepart

See, thats why i asked about a Peter Graves cameo...it could only have helped this self basteing turkey.
Okey...Kucher as Graves...but who plays the requsite babe, the general, and the prime role of the deaf guy?
And how do they make the bugs less killable? I still can't see the original hoppers as proof aginst tank cannon....

Crow T. Robot : ONE WEEKEND A MONTH MY ASS!

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

peter johnson

The requisite babe:  Kathryn Morris (The etherial detective on TV's Cold Case)
The general:  Skip Sudduth (Cop on Third Watch)
The deaf guy:  Bernie Mac

Have the giant hoppers be biohazardous, eg. tanks can't get close enough to kill them, as they exhude such poisonous pheromones that it drives men mad!!
Planes can't blast 'em, 'cause the hoppers are smart (See Attack of the Crab Monsters) and hide in population centers so the authorities can't use Weapons of Mass Destruction in case they do away with survivors or crucial power stations, etc.
Use the same "sound-weapon" convention as in the original.
