For Scott... but also for other people

Scott H.

I have a burning question to ask you, Scott. How many movies have you seen? I ask because you seem to post short reviews on almost 5 movies a week if not more, and I know that has been going on for quite some time now. Do you keep track? If so, what is your method for archiving what you've seen? Do you use the IMDb like I do which tells me what movies I've watched, which ones I own, and the ratings I give each movie? Or do you have thousands of composition notebooks lying around your dungeon or lair filled with your scribblings on each movies you've seen? I can imagine a side room of yours, stacked to the walls with notebooks - and behind those books are writings on the wall indecipherable by now but something about Hammer Horror can barely be made out from the many layers of writing.

Everybody--
what is your preferred method for documenting what movies you have seen? What is your movie viewing total? Like I said, I use the IMDb and my account allows me to see a vote history along with what rating I give each movie. I also have subsections I've set aside for movies I own, as well as a bad movie section that I use to organize what I consider to be b-movies. My latest vote count as of today on this foul year of our lord, May 17, 2005 tops off at 761 movies with a movie by the name of Legion of the Night (1995) being the last movie I have seen. I gave it a 4 out of 10. Before that, a recast vote on Coffee and Cigarettes (2003) with a 7, and before that Kung Fu Hustle (2004) with a spectacular 9 out of 10.

What about you folks? The world is listening and it's begging to hear.

I use the netflick system where I rate movies, So the numbers around 479. This does not include moves the I have seen in real recent in theaters, get at comic conventions, ones I have that I didn't rate or netflick does not have. So the numbers are off. If I had to estimate I say over 600. I see about 4-6 movies a week.

Oh God, don't start this on poor Scott again. We already had a tribute thread to him that explored the possible ways that he was able to see so many movies.

Myself, I watch them and commit them to my poor memory. I can't think of every movie I've ever seen but I can tell you if you describe one or if I see the movie art for it, whether or not I've seen it...in most cases.

Not sure how many films I've seen ScottH, but I keep track of the films I haven't seen yet. I have about 450 films qued up on Netflix, but only 100 films that I feel I really want to see to complete my bizarre, strange, and weird movie marathon. It could take about another year.

Sorry no notebooks in the closet about movies........................ : )

I'm with Odinn.  I don't have any real way to keep track of the films I've seen other than memory.  In most cases, if you name the film then I can tell you wether or not I've seen it/own it.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Same here, except with me it's "in some cases".

Why, thank you for the kind words. Much better. (:

As for myself . . .

Being gainfully unemployed in 1980, before I went to work for the U.S. Census Bureau, and having nothing better to do, I actually sat down and tried to figure how many movies I had seen. At that time, it was somewhere between 1200 and 1500. In the 25 years since, on television, on dvd, on video, and in theaters, it has averaged some 36 movies a year, so now the total must be some 2100 to 2400.

As how I rate them, I don't rate the ones I see on television, but the ones I see on dvd, on video, or in theaters, I rate with a letter grade, which ranges from A+ to F. And thus, that is how I keep track of the movies I've seen on dvd, on video, or in theaters.
