on the anchor bay release, they said that while the version of the film they were offering was the most complete, there were a number of scenes were the english audio was missing. oddly, i have a cheesy, pan-and-scan version of the movie on a double-sided disc that includes some of those same lines in english. mind you, it's nearly unwatchable compared to the real deal, but it's still sort of odd.

Odd, odd, odd. Aparently, as with many other Argento films, there are several cutss available. I recently got a copy that runs aprox. 105 minutes and was in good conditions (no pan & scan, thanks God), but I keep hearing the most complete version is Anchor Bay's, which runs, if I'm not wrong, more than 2 hours long, and has the scenes deleted for US release in subtitled Italian.

My guess is that your other version is an unrated DVD coming from another country, or even an older US release the Anchor Bay people didn't have access to.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

it's very posssible. there are burned-in subtitles, german i think, in the scene where the psychic is slain.
