Ok, so here's the basic premise as far as I can recall. A group of kids are left alone at the house or maybe with a babysitter and then something happens to either the televison or the remote and various TV themed creatures appear and start to terrorize the kids. I'm pretty sure that it's something along those lines, but not positive.

I only saw the film once and it was shown on USA's "Up All NIght" show. Hopefully someone here can help ID it.

i couldn't stand that show because i hated gilbert godfried.  What movies i did watch I muted him out during the commercials.

I did watch "Saturday Nightmares".

Do you remember any details, like the age of the kids or a character in particular? Can't think of a movie involving tv characters coming to life, except maybe in "Stay Tuned" (tho it was reversed), maybe one of the waxworks movies and Twilight Zone the movie. Maybe you're thinking of "Terror Toons"?

I think the boy was probably around 12-13 and was sort of rocker kid. Like maybe was into Iron Maiden or the like. And the sister was older and in high-school. I know the John Ritter film you're talking about is titled Stay Tuned and it's kind of the same idea, but this was much more interesting and I want to say the whole film takes place inside the house.

Couldn't be "The Gate" could it? It had minions that came up from the hole in the yard and terrorized them in the house. The kid was normal looking and had an older sister and they were all home alone, his best friend was the weirdo into playing metal records backwards and opening portals to hell. ;-)

No, definitely not The Gate. Although I did see that for the first time in ages just last week.

Kinda sounds like "saturday the 14th" or it's  "part 2"  Sequel

Hmm...after checking them out on IMDB I don't think it's one of them either. I distinctly remember the tv playing a rather large role in the film.

Could it possibly be TerrorVision?  There's rockers and a creature coming from the satellite dish.  Sounds pretty much like the film you're describing.  Andrew has a review on this site of the said film.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

I made my grandmother watch TerrorVision when it came on one summer at her house...sometimes  i think that she didn't so much like my two week visits ;-)

Some of the episodes had a female hostess named Caroline Shlit.  She was pretty cool.  Then she was replaced by Rhonda Shear (sp?).

It is only a little embarassing that I remember this.

Yep, that's definitely it! Thanks for the help guys. Now I must track down an affordable copy...

This description also reminds me of Wax Works 2. Basically the main characters jump around from horror movie to horror movie. Kinda like the movie Stay Tuned except the only channels you get are Sci Fi and Sci Fi. You should check it out.
