From Toy News International:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, For a little while, at least, a federal judge told Warner Bros. to cancel the release of The Dukes of Hazzard and impound any copies of the film.

Preliminary injunction was issued last Friday in a suit brought by producer Robert B. Clark. Warners bought TV rights to his obscure 1975 film "Moonrunners" when the studio originally made the Hazzard TV skein.

Clark alleged nothing in the original 1978 contract gave Warners the right to also make a movie. In issuing such a far-reaching order, Judge Gary Allen Feess agreed.

"Plaintiffs have shown a likelihood that they will be able to prove at trial that they have an ownership interest in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' film," Feess wrote.

Suit has since been settled, but legal sources not involved in the case said Warners likely paid a pretty penny to settle.

Marc Toberoff, who represented the plaintiffs, said, "The parties have reached a settlement of all claims in the litigation. The terms of that settle-ment are confidential."

Seven years on MacGyver and you cannot figure this out? We got belt buckles, shoe laces, and a piece of gum. Build a nuclear reactor for crying out loud.  You used to be MacGyver, MacGadget, MacGimmick, and now you are now 'Mr. MacUseless'.

I've known about this movie for quite a while. I even saw the trailer for it during "Batman Begins." But if it was canned, I probably wouldn't have realized until a few years later, during one of those random fleeting thoughts... "Hey, what ever happened to that Dukes movie? I guess it was in-and-out of theaters too fast for me to notice. I wonder if it bombed."

The only thing that really interested me from the trailer to Dukes of Hazzard was the fact that the Spiderbait cover of "Black Betty" was used, and I love that song.

Other than that, I would say the same as nobody, although I wouldn't really have cared if it was out or not.

Funnily enough I got the same feeling typing this as with Underworld.  Trailers had a song I really liked ["Red Tape" which was also in 'The Jackal'] and the movie didn't come out for a long time [it was delayed a fair while]

I forgot about it for a while then finally it came out, I didn't get the chance to go see it, and had to wait for the DVD.  But then again, I actually wanted to see Underworld; I couldn't care less about Dukes.

What's really odd is that Jay Chandrasekhar, who directed, co-wrote, and co-starred in 'Super Troopers', directed this. I think he's a great comedy director, but what in the hell was he thinking? Money? If it's a money thing, then I can understand that.

How could the guy who made Super Troopers stoop so low?

What an odd thing to say.

Maybe he's trying to broaden his career beyond just Broken Lizard stuff. When "Club Dread" was released, he was on ESPN 2's "Cold Pizza" with the rest of the gang. Although they are a comedy troupe, the rest of the bunch seemed to defer to him and while the hosts were trying to get them to give funny answers to stupid trivia questions none of them would say anything after he spoke. Made me wonder if he was the "first among equals" of the group or if he the talent of the bunch and the rest didn't want to p**s off the meal ticket. I like "Super Troopers" but didn't expect to, a friend loaned me a copy, and I liked the pointless stuff (messing with people they pulled over, the rivalry with the regular coips, chugging syrup) but hated the pathetic attempt at an actual plot and story. Would have been better as just a series of sketches of a day in the life of some really odd and stupid state troopers.

I have no interest in seeing the Dukes movie. Loved the show as a kid, but even few years when it comes back in reruns -local syndication, the old TNN/Spike, now CMT- I watch a few episodes and realize I liked a lot of crap as a kid. A case of those fond memories that should be left alone.

I actually hope "The Moonrunners" gets a DVD release or turns up on TV again out of this. I remember seeing it on TV when the show was popular (ABC trying to get some rating spill over I guess) and saw it on TNT a few years ago after work one night. Just your basic 70s trashy drive-in car movie, but it was fun to see how they turned it into a show that kids and my fellow southerners love. Plus it has one of Robert Mitchum's untalented family members, usually a way to find unintended laughs.
