i got an email that i was about to delete but was curious if it was legit. Now obviously I would love to do something like this. But once again, i get so much junk email that i want to toss it - because regal entertainment was on the header i was curious since it doesn't appear to be a third party. I've heard of mystery shoppers but this i haven't.

What got me thinking was at the bottom of the email they listed a particular theater i used to live near. Now not too long ago I wrote to regal cimema and suggested they contact the manager of that theater to cut down the tree's blocking their movie listing billboard, stating a new amc theater was coming up soon and they need to really improve and be noticed. Two weeks later two of those tree's that had grown so big they blocked the theater and the stupid sign were sawed down. I blocked out the persons name on this post in case it IS legit and everyone starts calling her up. The number sounds like an internal one more than a customer service one. I just don't know....

Susan,

I'd say that if it has a valid "regalcinemas.com" email address, then give it a go.  Hell, give the 1-877# a try too.  Might actually be legit

This would be like a dream come true. Normally I wouldn't respond to spam but as Skaboi said, call them and find out. Wish I had a Regal around here.

what's odd is the regal website does not list this phone number. When i do a google search using the phone number, i get a few msg board comments. So i went to the regal entertainment website which i've frequented before and send them a "comment" inquiring about this program and email i received. I also replied to the email i received as it appears to be directly from an individual, and requested more information. Such as what they would require of me (and that i will not provide them with my social security number since i cannot verify the legitimacy of this offer) and I also asked how they obtained my email.

now if they say the magic words "We have it in our records from an email you once sent us regarding this particular theater" then bingo!

i hate to get excited like i am but the prospect of being paid by regal to watch movies is really COOL! even if it has something to do what i despise, promotional advertising.

The response I received after replying directly to the email I got on this. I asked where they got my email and this person hit the nail on the head. Nobody else would know that but regal as I sent a comment in to their website directly.
I'm still wary of the whole social security thing, even tho amazon has mine due to being an affiliate and required for tax purposes. Now I specifically mentioned I did not want to provide ss# or credit card info just to see wha they said. I know if you are paid by a company for a service, however, they require it.

so basically, someone wants to pay me to go to a movie.

>>>>>Hello Susan,

Thank you for your interest and your questions.  This is a legitimate
program.  I got your e-mail address from our data base when you
submitted a comment to Regal in January.  I believe it was about the
trees around the marquee.  We do not sell any addresses or names to
outside companies.

If you chose to participate in the Verifier Program we would require a
W-9 (which includes your Social Security #) in order for us to send you
payment for your services.

The phone number listed is a toll free number that comes directly into
my office if you would like to call me.

The theatre that I currently have available is the xxxxxxxxxx located
at xxxxxxxxxxxxx.  If this is convenient for you
and you are still interested please send your mailing address and I will
forward our package of information, instructions and forms.  You could
begin this month if that works into your schedule.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions or
concerns.

Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon.

xxxxxx

Susan,

That's a pretty sweet deal.  Let us know how everything works out.

i guess it pays to complain, literally. They only had my email because I sent in a complaint to the company about how the theater may lose business because their stupid sign was blocked by giant tree's.

At least now i know someone reads those. Maybe I should start sending in ideas on ways they could make a bigger profit and satisfy the customer, they could pay me to be a consultant...i could take over the world...

Well an update _ i received the information today. It's quite a few pages, each being an advertising item i would have to verify whether it's a decal, drink cup, plasma tv..etc. Each page has a description and a picture of the item

I have to request the manager and introduce myself, then i can feel like a total geek walking around the lobby with my checklist and asking to see their drink cups advertising Animal Planet or something. I'll probably do it for a month or two and see if it's more of a pain than i expected.

odinn7

I'm sure you will probably feel uncomfortable the first few times but once you get to know the manager and get used to what you're doing, you'll be fine. Think about it this way...you're living the movie geeks dream.
