Just watched the series premiere the other night, it's on Tuesday evenings.  Pretty good show.  It's about two brothers who's mother was killed by supernatural means when they were very young.  Dad and one brother took up ghost hunting, the other brother went to law school.  But dad disappears, and the brothers get together to go looking for him.  They run into some sort of ghost that preys on people that drive down a certain stretch of road.  In the end of the first episode, something happens that makes the brother in law school decide to join his ghost hunting brother, and we've got a TV series.

I thought it was a pretty cool show.  The two main characters are likable and there's a lot of good natured banter between them.  It's somewhat humorous.  The special effects were better than average, that was probably the most impressive part.

If you haven't got anything to do on a Tuesday night, you might find this an entertaining show.

I checked it out Tuesday and agree, it looks like a show with potential. Kind of weird having such a dark show on right after the Gilmore Girls, though. I'll be watching it.

I also watched a new show on Fox that night called Bones. It stars David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel) and Emily Deschanel (Boogeyman). It's kind of a CSI knockoff, Boreanaz is an ex-Marine sniper turned FBI agent who is partnered with a phorensic anthropologist (Deschanel) to solve old murder cases.  It had a few suspension of disbelief issues with it like most of the other shows like it.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to dump all over this.

I didn't find it a bit scary, but I wan't expecting to.

But, the acting is going to have to be better.

And the writing is certainly going to have to be better.

The concept is old hat. I kept having flashbacks to "The Guns of Will Sonnett" w/ Walter Brennan. But instead of two brothers looking for their father, it was a grandfather and grandson looking for the old man's son, and the boy's father.

The woman pinned to the ceiling was good, then they had to ruin it by having one of the fakest fire effects I have ever seen on television.

But, would I watch it again. Yes, if I didn't have to work Tuesday nights. I like the idea of using some of America's urban legends for the villains in the series.

And did anybody catch the "Jim, Jack, and Jose" line?

Caught the second episode last night. The travel to the coordinates their father left in his journal which leads them to a place in the middle of the  woods in Colorado.  They team up with a sister and brother looking for their older brother. Dean and Sam are trying to pass thermselves off as forest rangers but no one buys it, since they show up with no equipment or provisions.

Once they arrive at the destroyed campsite (something really tore it up) they find evidence that the campers were dragged away by something. The teaser at the beginning showed the attack and at first I thought it was going to be a werewolf. They figure out it is a Windigo and apparently nothing will kill it but burning it.

The show does manage to generate some tension and I liked the fact that they never show the creature clearly until the end and then it is in a dark mine shaft. My only problem with shows like this is that the premise of creature of the week gets old pretty fast.

It is worth checking out.

I actually think the writing and acting are the best parts of the show.  The two main characters are quite well developed already, which is pretty unheard of for a TV show on its 2nd episode.  The banter between them is often quite clever as well.  I suppose the monster of the week thing will get old after a while, but that's a problem with most shows - cop shows have the criminal of the week, sci-fi has the alien of the week.  I thought it was pretty neat that they had a Windigo this week, that's the first I've seen one of those in a show.

And I love the '80s music.  When that guy was having a nightmare and woke up to Hot Blooded by Foreigner, that was just perfect.

I do like the older brother Dean's taste in music.  He should switch to CD's though, those cassettes have a tendency to wear out.

I think from the preview something is in the water next week.
