Apparently I am a survivor.  I have to say, I can do a lot of damage with a bat, but any good machete I can think of would work well.  If I really had a choice of hand to hand weapons, I would go for a Katana.  Nearly a perfect slicing weapon and easily able to remove some arms from the pesky buggers.

I probably lost points for not leaving people who were surrounded alone.  Unless the situation were hopeless, I would have to give it a try.

You all saw 28 Days where the one dude gets infected by a drop of blood in the eye? That is why my concern for using "messy" weapons on Zombies.

The reason I used the pitchfork is because I could make a poke and relatively distant zombie kill with less risk for contamination. : ) Which takes me back to the head shot question.

I had already picked up some riot gear earlier and those include a face shield.  But figured (if anything), I would keep my mouth closed and my bare minimum safety gear would be a set of goggles.

Oh, ok. In that case Andrew we can swing away........................ : )

They taught us early in shop class to always wear goggles and this would be the perfect senario. It didn't come to mind, but now it's becoming clearer to me.

Didn't Day of the Dead answer the whole 'why you shoot them in the head' question?

Something along the lines of primitive brain impulses in the centre of the brain being the last to get infected.  Therefore all the zombie's movements are instinctual, such as finding food [ie warm flesh] even if they don't need nourishment.  Take out the brain, and bye bye zombie.

So I guess the pitchfork does the same thing, concept wise, though I'd prefer to just beat the zombies out of the way and run rather than methodically poking zombies in the head with a pitchfork.  But then again, it could be kinda fun in a controlled circumstance.

Anyway, I also chose the bus, figuring that if I've rescued a few people and armed them, there was no sense in packing a carfull of people with no moving space into a car or SUV.  The bus allows the passengers a bit of room [that way if one person turns, or a zombie gets inside, there is room to get outta the way and start blasting] and they are pretty big, well some are, so it would be hard for the average zombie to be able to climb up its sheer walls to get to the windows [I'm going on the buses we have here though, in which the windows are pretty high up]  I guess the only problem I can think of with a bus is petrol and slow manuverabilty.

Don't worry about that Dean. Get that bus some space and speed and you should do fine with the bus.

I'll have to watch DAY OF THE DEAD again. It was my least favorite of the Romero Zombie films.

What vehicle did you use Andrew?

Dr. Whom

I got 77%, with a pick-up and a machete at the end. Oh yes, I dynamited my friend (no need to get sentimental) and rescued everyone in sight (numbers count)

Did you REALLY pick up riot gear?

And I thought I was a survivalist!
LOL!!

AndyC

Woohoo! I scored 86% and did better than 95% of people my age and gender. Got out with my whole party alive. Armed and dangerous!

Nice work, you touched on a lot of the basic reasons why I hate the zombie genre. I have to think if such a thing ever actually happened, all the fans of zombie movies would get caught up in acting out their favorite movie scenes and end up cold meat.

I took the test and I got a 74% and "somehow" made it out okay. If you're in a area full of zombies, don't screw around... get the hell out! Not to sound cold-hearted, but isn't the numero uno mistake people make in every zombie flick stopping to help those who are already screwed? If you drop them a firearm, they can shoot you or whatever you're flying in down! Jeez...

Try it now, Dave...seems to be working ok. But listen, I expect you to come back with at least a 95%. Anything less from you and I will have to consider it failure.

I don't take ZOMBIE films seriously, so I do get to enjoy them, but who is this guy making up the test and why are his answers correct? : ) At least it was a fun test.
