The Burgomaster

I am about to enter Hammer DVD overload.  I ordered the following DVDs, which are on their way.  All are from Hammer Films and were releeased from the late 1950s through the early 1970s.  I think a weekend marathon viewing may be necessary:

* DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE
* DRACULA, A.D. 1972 (PRE-ORDER)
* TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA
* CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN
* FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED
* REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN
* HAMMER HORROR SERIES (INCLUDES 8 MOVIES, AS FOLLOWS):

- NIGHT CREATURES
- NIGHTMARE
- KISS OF THE VAMPIRE
- BRIDES OF DRACULA
- EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN
- PARANOIAC
- CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF
- PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

Added to the Hammer DVDs that I already own, I believe that the only major titles that I still need to purchase are THE MUMMY and DRACULA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS.  I wonder how many of these I can watch before I get sick of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee?

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

 DRACULA, A.D. 1972 (PRE-ORDER)

^ thats a good one.... Dracula let loose in swinging 70's London.

they're all basically the same but whatever.

I also found DRACULA  A.D. 1972 to be a great Hammer film. The rest of the films are also good-great Burgomaster. Where have you been? Also see DEMONS OF THE MIND.  One that I haven't seen in a long while is BRIDES OF DRACULA.

When you have your marathon INVITE ME!!!!!!!!

I love hammer films.  They're so cheesy.

Speaking of Hammer Horror: has anyone here bought the The Hammer Horror Series set of DVDs? The movies on it are:

The Brides of Dracula, The Curse of the Werewolf, The Phantom of the Opera, Night Creatures, Nightmare, Paranoiac, The Kiss of the Vampire, The Evil of Frankenstein

    Something of a mixed bag, I mean the Hammer Dracula movie without Christopher Lee, but it is under $30 so I might put it on the Christmas list.

Doh! Pardon me I'll be outside for a while playing in the freeway. Now I feel embarrassed. :0

I saw the set listed at $29.99.

I bought the Hammer Horror Series boxed set for $21.59 from Deep Discount DVD.

It's a good collection. I might get it just to see BRIDES OF DRACULA and CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF.

I just got out of a Hammer frenzy myself, after watching some titles that were not available in the movie cicle i saw a few months ago. Make damn sure you get every Cushing / Fisher Frankenstein entry, as they are fantastic. "Frankenstein created woman" and "frankenstein must be destroyed" have become personal favourites.

"The Gorgon" is also an interesting one, one of the least known Cushing / Lee / Fisher reunions.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

BoyScoutKevin

Get tired of watching Cushing and Lee? Never! They're the Karloff and Lugosi of British horror films. Though with that many horror films, to really appreciate them. I'd take three weekends. Watch the four Dracula tapes, in the order in which they were released, over one weekend. Then watch the four Frankenstein tapes, in the order in which they were released, over a second weekend. And then watch the six remaining tapes, in any order, over a third weekend.

Stay away from the satantic rites of Dracula, thats the absolute worst POS I've seen. it's scared me for life.

save the world, kill a politician or two.

Shadowphile

What you didn't like Dracula trying to destroy humanity with by releasing the plague?

Or that electrical equipment explodes and catches fire when it short circuits?

You have to admit, watching naked woman go into orgasmic ecstacy when blood is dripped on them is at least amusing.
