Kinda OT: Revamped Shining Trailer

Not sure how old this is, but a friend sent me this trailer for the Shining which I thought was fantastic. Pretty funny considering how the Shining is.

I can really imagine that people would get really angry if they went to see the Shining based on this trailer! Enjoy!!

I love the useage of Peter Gabriel, that song and "Send me On the Way" by Rusted Root are both strong contenders for most used movie trailer song.

Silly jump cuts give the movie such a different feel. I watched the trailer without sound and got to become absorbed in the visuals. Whomever cut this new trailer sure liked to snazz things up with fade up white dissolves and screen shifts down. I didn't feel like I connected with the movie this way, even if it is only a minute long. I've seen the movie a number of times and so I know what I'm supposed to feel and where, but this trailer passes up all those emotions in order to pack more screen shots into a small space. If they would concentrate on what camera movements and shots really define the film, I think they'd be able to create a better trailer.

Scottie...did you actually watch this thinking it was just a revamped trailer for the same movie? Turn the sound on...The person that did this was obviously trying to give the impression that this would be one of those feel good chick movies...basically it was supposed to be a joke.
Seriously, you are kidding and I just didn't catch it, right?

I actually watched this about four times straight just to make sure I took it all in. I just love how it was all put together. Where was the 'I'm going to be your new foster-dad' quote from though? Was it in the Shining or ripped from somewhere else?

That song combined with the sappy 'Shining' at the end just made me laugh so much, especially how you have completely freaky or Nicholson going crazy moments in the film, being made to look happy and fun in the trailer. Great stuff really...

It's a joke?

I obviously missed everything. I wasn't able to hear music so I judged the trailer on its merits as a recut. If it's a joke like you said it is (I still can't hear music) then it's cut just like a "feel good" should.
