GIGLI (2003) - You've all heard about it, but tonight I finally saw this film and had to watch it after all the terrible reviews it received. The film wasn't so bad and I actually got into the story. The only part I found offensive was the constant use of the F-word for which this film must have set the all time record for. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Afflack acting was terrible I suppose, but you had to like the Al Pacino scene by the fish tank and the mixer of the Lopez character and the mentally handicap boy some how worked. It was definately entertaining, but not for any Oscar type reasons. I got a kick out of it and was able to easily sit through the whole film with no desire to turn the channel. Great no.... Dumb yes..... Entertaining yes.

Oh no Scott you didn't...

Some things just shouldn't be encouraged!!  This film is one of them, though I have also wanted to see it, and at one stage considered buying it along with House of the Dead at a second hand sale really cheap, though was convinced out of it by members of this board who, I'm sure, would have physically slapped me should I have done so.

On another note, wasn't this some sort of action flick?  I guess a review for an action flick should really include a vague outline of how the action worked [if at all]

Ah well, glad to hear you enjoyed it.  I guess considering your viewing history that this is by no means the worst film you would have come across, and I guess we all could assume that the 'hype' for this film was mostly created by the producers who knew they had a stinker and had to play to it's strengths [after all, how can people like us refuse to watch a film which sells itself as 'terrible!']

To venture upon this, I will say, sir, you are a bigger man than I.  I've been shot at, had knives pulled on me and been called everything but a nice guy, and I'll say, I just don't have the courage for Ben and Jennifer.  I...just...can't...do...it.

Scott, buddy, I'm sorry I talked sh*t at you yesterday about not watching enough movies last month. In no way did I ever expect you would take my scolding to heart and punish yourself like this. I am so sorry that I said that to you. I was only joking man...I feel like this is all my fault now. I feel like you sat through this and punished yourself because of what I said.  How do you expect me to live with myself knowing that I caused this kind of suffering in another human being?

Don't beat yourself up odinn7.  It's over now, he's too far gone...  The best we can hope for is to burn the rest of whatever's left of Scott's body and soul so as to stop the spread of infection before it gets to us too!

I mean, did you read his review??  He actually enjoyed it and was entertained by it!  Clearly this is the result of severe brain trauma and he has gone into a state of massive shock, and such a state of shock one may assume is irreversible...  His filmic tastes have now been damaged beyond repair, and it will only spread further.  Pretty soon he'll be thinking Tom Arnold is the best comedian in the world and that Britney Spears is a serious artist who deserves more respect from us all.

Naturally this will result in him violently trying to sway us with these beliefs so it really is in our best interests to put him out of his so very obvious misery...

The sad thing is that because of this 'glowing' praise from Scott, I'm actually considering watching Gigli.

My god, I think it's spreading!!!!!

I have seen this movie before. I hate Ben and Jen but I had to see it with all I heard about it. My brain has been conditioned over the years to accept horror and then move on...I can put up with quite a bit that a normal person would cave in under. After reading Scott's review, it is apparent that he had some kind of break down while watching this. I am to blame.
I'm sorry Scott. I'm sorry world. I never meant for any of this to happen. My wife always told me that picking on people would cause problems one day and now look at the sorry state that Scott is in. Oh why! Why! Why does it have to be this way?! Why couldn't I have just kept quiet this one time?!

Relax, Odinn, I think we can recover him - if - we act quickly.  I prescribe the following viewings:

Plan 9 from Outer Space
Mankillers
Night of the Living Dead (original)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space

If Scott watches these ASAP, he may have a chance.  But wait, is he not a Westerns fan?  Quick, can anyone suggest some good/bad westerns to counteract the mindwashing effects under which he suffers?

Hey, I think I'm about to embark on my biggest movie adventure yet. This could be my biggest movie month. These are a few more movies that I have yet to see. Maybe I should start with these and put them at the top of my list. Who knows what treasures await.............. Don't try to talk me out of it people ! ! !

Swept Away (2002)
Cross Roads (2002)
Glitter (2001)

Daaaaaaah!

Scott, if you watch those three, FINISHING with Glitter, and still can generate enough organized neuronal activity to type coherently enough to gloat (?) about it, you win a no-prize.

The really disturbing thing about that statement is that I have seen two out of three of those films...  Wow that's nasty...

Glitter was terrible, but if you like tacky, over-the-top quasi-musicals with lots of, well, Glitter, and 'fade to white' scenes, it's actually quite terrible...

No there was no positive there [though I have to say there one or two moments which was so bad it was actually amusing!]

Scott, you need help.  Honestly, look at yourself, look at the types of movies you're watching.  Glitter is the only one with any redeeming quality, and that is to look at Mariah Carey.  Swept Away?  Madonna?  Haven't your mother and I raised you better?  Can't you just watch Deep Core on Sci-Fi this weekend?  Why must you punish yourself this way?
