While in my car the other day, I turned the radio to a station that plays nothing but Christmas music during the holidays.
"Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" by Nat King Cole was playing.
(I think it was by him)

Anyway, I seem to recall a movie scene where a ferocious gun battle takes place to that song.
People are dying left and right.

Anyone know what film that is?

Ash,

Not sure of the film, so this is just a guess.  Being as it sounds like an action film set at Christmas, could it be Die Hard 1 or 2?  I don't remember any scene like that in Die Hard 1, but I haven't seen the second one in years so there's a chance it's from that film.

I don't remember Gremlins having a gun scene in fact I don't recall it have guns at all.

There were gun battles in Die Hard but I don't remember that music playing during one.

I don't have anything to suggest other than it could be Die Hard 2.

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

Are you possibly thinking of Good Morning, Vietnam, where Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" plays to scenes of war violence? The scenario sounds similar, and I could see the possibility of mixing the songs up.

I recall a movie like this from the mid 90's but can't remember the name. It was something about a bank robbery in a small town during Christmas time.

1994's Trapped In Paradise?  I think that might be the film you are thinking of.  Either that or Reindeer Games.

Ah, yes Skaboi, it was Trapped In Paradise that I was thinking of but now I see that is not the movie that this topic was about. Thanks for helping me with that one.

Assault On Precinct 13 (the re-make) was set around Christmas or New Years so maybe that is the movie.

Actually, I think it was "Face/Off".
Not 100% on that though.

Remember the scene where Travolta,(Sean Archer) as Castor Troy, went back to Troy's hideout after he escapes from the oil drilling platform prison?
His friend brings him that wooden box which contains his gold plated pistols, a bunch of pills and several joints.

Then the bald guy henchman puts white powder in his Troy's/Archer's drink so he could get high.

After that, Troy, as Archer, has the police raid Troy's/his own hideout and that gun battle takes place.

That's gotta be it.

If any of you own the Face/Off DVD, please pop it in and go to that scene to be sure.
I'd appreciate it.

No, the scene in FACE/OFF uses the song "Over the Rainbow".

The "Chestnuts" scene sounds maddeningly familiar, but I have no idea what movie it is or if it really exists.

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

I know what you mean as I can practically picture it but now I am thinking something else here...

Perhaps it's not even real at all and this is just another Ash experiment on all of us...

IMDB shows the song being used in two recent(ish) films: With Honors (1994) and 101 Dalmations (1996). I doubt it was the dog movie.

Ash,

I just bought Face/Off on DVD this weekend, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.  I haven't seen it in years so I'm not much help at the moment.

I'll repost once I see the film.
