I was in a Dollar General store the other day, and when I passed by their meager selection of dvds, I noticed the SCTV Season 1 collection for $10. A little digging turned up Season 2 for the same price. Despite being short on funds this month, I splurged. Good day, eh! Take off!

Great find!

I dearly loved that show (it was a classy alternative to rotten early-80s SNL), and paid full price for each of the four volumes when they were released a couple of years ago.

One of my favorite sketches was 'Farm Film Report' and their movie satires were classic. I particularly like their version of THE GODFATHER and their version of THE MIRACLE WORKER called GANGWAY FOR MIRACLES, starring Edith Prickley (Andrea Martin) and Regan Duke Astin (Katharine O'Hara) as "Mad Dog".

May the good Lord take a likin' to ya and blow ya up real soon!

Used to love it when NBC used to air it on Friday night when I was just starting to stay up late. I think my favorite thing form the show was the storyline they did stretched over one long show spoofing The Godfather when the station owner was nearly killed.

A few years ago, before Carson Daly took over the show, when Later had begun to really suck after lots of host and format switching, NBC used to air reruns of SCTV after Conan went off. I was really glad they did this, until I watched a few, they had dated very badly. Mostly the references to pop culture. But the pacing was very slow compared to more modern shows, which usually doesn't bother me, in this case it did. Lots of talented people on the show, but it didn't click with me the way it did back then.

Then again I was also a fan of Fridays on ABC, even though most of the humor went over my head, would like to see some of those again also.
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....

Use to love this show. It was a real joy on late late night TV (or anytime they would have shown it). Would love to watch it all again some time. Good find Derf.
