I am thankful for my wonderful parents, for if it wasn't for them I would have let my chronic depression overwhelm me by now and I would have killed myself, they are really the only reason I haven't, I could never do that to them. They are very understanding and supportive and they are really the only thing I have to live for right now. They've given me the strength to seek help and try to drag myself from the abyss that is my lonely existence. I love'em. Sorry to be so depressing.... :bouncegiggle: Happy Thanksgiving.

SkullBat, I am thankful for your wonderful parents too.

I just want to point out that if you are thankful for them keeping you alive, then it seems that you don't really want to commit suicide.  You want to live and be happy, as we all do.  If you really wanted to end it all but felt you couldn't because of your obligation to them, you'd resent them for keeping you alive against your will, not be thankful for them.

I suffered from moderate to severe depression but found a medication that controls (not cures) it.  So, it can be overcome.  The other thing that I've found to be true is that depression tends to run in cycles; things can get worse, then get better, with no apparent cause.  Sometimes it's nothing more than a matter of waiting for the clouds to lift on their own.  Good luck to you.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...
