It has nothing to do with an attempt at originality. Just dollars. Cash in on the craze while the 14-year-olds are still into it. In five years time, nobody will care about Twilight, and it will be replaced by some other vacuous entertainment fad.

So, is the last--supposedly--film in the "Harry Potter" series, and I have no plans on seeing that neither. Thus, what scares me is not that both films will be in two parts, but . . .

When the last "Harry Potter" film is released in 2011, that's it. As there are no more books to be made into films. But with . . .

When the last "Twilight" film is released, I presume in 2011, that won't be it. Not because there are any more books to be filmed, there aren't, but as long as the series continues to make money at the boxoffice, we'll see more films based on original scripts.
Thus . . .

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Originally I was annoyed with Twilight, but now it doesn't bother me. Why? It has nothing to do with having developed any appreciation for it. Not at all. I still hold the same position of disdain, but now I've just accepted watching them from a position of ridicule. They are, essentially, b-movies with a budget, and make such little sense that they are hilarious. You've got Kristen Stewart, who walks around both movies I've seen as what has to be the most boring teenager on the planent. I mean, she literally looks boring. And these two mythical perfect beings fighting over her. I mean, what socially awkward teenage girl (by that I mean most of them) isn't going to buy into that, hook, line, and sinker? Especially when they're surrounded by idiotic teenage boys (by that I mean most of them).

My question is, how many of these teenage girls are going to grow up some day and actually realize how routinely they fell for the mass marketing?

To me, it's just the same as watching any b-movie is trying to be taken seriously, only in this case the movie has a mass audience that's easily as hilarious as the movies are.

I got excited because I thought someone ripped the movie in half.

Wow. I wrote Kristen Bell and not Kristen Stewart in my previous post. Correction made, but jeez, how the hell did I make that mistake? Wishful thinking, I guess.

Where the hell did they find Kristen Stewart anyway?

Director: "I need someone to play the role of 'Bela'. Any ideas?"
Random Staff: "How 'bout Kristen Stewart?"
Director: "Who?"
Random Staff: "She was in 'Panic Room'."
Director: "Is she hot?"
Random Staff: "Kinda..."
Director: "She's hired!"

I know this was floating about recently, but it bears repeating. In case you didn't see it. I've read it a few times and I still find it hilarious.
