While the name is certainly familiar to me, I must admit, that I've never read any of her books.

Lost Souls, Drawing Blood and Wormwood are her best.

I read a collection of her short stories once, but I can't remember the name of it. Most of it was decent, but I was kinda turned off by her gay-teenage-vampire schtick that permeates some of her work. She's pretty f**king cute, though, I'll at least give her that.

I liked Exquisite Corpse, but it made me feel filthy while I read it. Seriously sick stuff.

Yeah the whole GLBT thing got kind of annoying but I cant dislike work that good.

I've had a couple friends who were majorly into her. I thought her short story "Swamp Foetus"*  had good atmosphere to it.

Unfortunately that same short story was later filmed for a horrible tv show hosted by David Bowie. Im still confused how HBO+ David Bowie+ Poppy= that. I don't know where the link is but some minimal research will get you there if you really want to waste an hour of your life.

I read her Crow story, and tried to read one of her books (can't recall which on it was, but it's about this serial killer that manages to escape from prison by faking his death (he slows down he heart rate somehow or another.)  Thing is though, there weren't any character I gave a damn about in the whole novel, so I kind of gave up on that book.

Dunno, I can't help but wonder if Poppy might have been "Paul" at some point in her(?) life.  I mean, think about it, she's obsessed with transsexuals and seems to know way more about male reproductive organs than anyone born female should be able to know...

But, that's just my theory.

I read "Lost souls" ages ago, in the 90s. I thought it was great and also very disturbing. I don't know how well it would look to me now, many years after the whole vampire / gay / gothic fad that Anne Rice started.
