On a serious note, what do you think of the Afrikaans language's future? Is it a dying language doomed to be overtaken by English?

I don't think so, otherwise I will only be fluent in two languages instead of three: English and expletives  

There's been more Afrikaans language films produced and released in the last five years than in the last two decades so I think so long as people speak it, it won't die out.

It sounds like the South African government is doing a pretty good job of letting SA's many languages co-exist (or at least not doing anything to hurt them).  I gather Afrikaans actually has a pretty good media presence.  I've definitely heard it more in music and film than Zulu or Xhosa (I think I've heard one Zulu song ever).  

I also know there's education, some government functions, published magazines/newspapers, websites, business, radio, and some television conducted in Afrikaans...  Linguists generally say you need governmental support, education, and media for a language to have good survival chances...  Definitely has all that, and a speaker base in the millions, so I'd say it's future is pretty secure as a living language.  Which is awesome.
