Evil Dead is a nice gory intelligent one until the sequals, which are good too.

band of bro's, especially the "bastogne" stuff is pretty gory.  And it brought me a new level of understanding of war.

btw - has anyone checked out the new "day of the dead"?  it seems like its going to be an intteligent horror film, picking up some social issues in addition to the zombies.

I heard Deep Red was boring cause it had a bad story? Can anyone confirm that?

I found one, Naked Blood. It's about this kid that finds a drug that turns pain into pleasure. Lots of people are shown brutally beating themselves. Has social commentary about lack of discipline and people forgetting the consequences for seeking pleasure.

deep red...just watched it last night as a matter of fact.

like the other dario argento flick i saw, the plot was drawn out and had some holes but the gore is good (not too much though) and there is a creepy mood. worth a shot. good musical score by Goblin...
