I remember this alien creature who had like a cap on with ear flaps.

I remember at the end of the movie, there was a evil businessman? and the alien guy picked up a gun, held it backwards, and shot himself. Thats all i remember.

Any ideas?

Umm... i remember it seemed like ET, with like a little boy as a friend anddd... i really dont remember. i saw it on cable a while ago. maybe 8 years ago.

I think at one point of the movie the dad alien puts on a funny hat ...

Yup, sounds very much like Mac and Me. I enjoyed that one when I was a wee one, but a recent viewing made me realize how friggin' bad it is.

im about 99.9% positive i know this.
i dont think its mac and me, it sounds exactly like the end of "A Gnome Named Gnorm". hes not an alien he's a Gnome and the "Buisness man" is the police chief/badguy his name is Stan something or other. Gnorm picks up his gun and goes to shoot him but its backwards and he says "you die now slug slime" or something to that extent, and shoots himself though he doesnt die cause he has really thick skin. Anthony Michael Hall(weird science) is in it as a rookie cop name Casey Gallager and he finds Gnorm at the Scene of a Murder and, well here...

oh and the part with the cap with ear flap is when Casey(hall) and Gnorm are on a steak out looking for Zdar's(bad guy) right hand man Reggie. they are at the boardwalk and part of gnorms disguise is a yellow cap with a bicycle on it and it has ear flaps.

Whoops, nope, the poppa alien in Mac and Me doesn't commit suicide, so "A Gnome Named Norm" sounds like the ticket! Damn you're good Joe!
