Tuned in to Scifi on Saturday to try and watch this latest Original Picture and I was surprised. Not only was I able to tolerate the story but I made it the whole way through the movie, a first in a long time. The ogre was fun to watch and even if it didn't look great (my brother saying, "That looks really bad, like Warcraft") it moved in a realistic way and showed the effects of being shot and jabbed (!) and sounded alright. Further, there was some ok gore :tongueout:.

Even better, this is on the way: Rock Monster. It looks like it'll have the same good feeling that Mammoth! had. It's a ROCK MONSTER :bouncegiggle:!

Anyways, did anybody else catch Ogre? What did you think of it?

I have to agree, this one was alright, had as good a story as these movies (Sci-Fi originals) ever do and for once the acting was believable, almost. I especially liked the Ogre, looks a lot like the El Gigante of Resident Evil IV, except that he has a large beer belly and is wearing something that looks like a diaper. He also has a taste for people's heads and as has been said the Sci-Fi channel wasn't overly shy about showing these little tidbits.
Rock Monster looked interesting too, although I suspect they may have gotten the idea for this one from Galaxy Quest.

NEEEEEERRRRRRRRRDS!

Oh, wait. Wrong Ogre?

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Wasn't terribly fond of this one.  I did make it all the way through, but that monster was just silly.  He looked like one of those four hundred pounders on The Biggest Loser, complete with beer belly and man boobs.  Right at the beginning, when the one kid broke his leg and the others showed absolutely no concern, it kind of took me out of the movie.  The 1850 people were actually pretty interesting, but the modern characters weren't.  The one guy didn't seem to take anything seriously, like the whole situation was a big joke, and the girl was just yelling nonsense like she couldn't comprehend the situation.

The silly-looking monster is what I liked best about this one!  I'm gotten into the habit of watching the Sci-Fi Saturday movie because it's such a cheesefest, and this one was pretty bad.  But I enjoyed it, I didn't get bored, and yes, RockMonster looks awesomely bad.

I must admit that the Sci-Fi Saturday night movie is one of my guilty pleasures, I have found that the films, no matter how awful, are  usually entertaining in some way or another and occasionally there'll be one that is quite good. I wouldn't recommend giving up a night out with friends for these movies but if you're at home anyway they can be enjoyable, besides they usually show the movie again on the following Thursday.

I watch it and it was your usual Sci Fi fare, not that great and not that bad.

spoiler-ish

I must have missed the part that told why the people from the past only existed as long as the Orge was alive and why they couldn't cross the boundary guess it was an old cruse or something equally cliche. I'll watch it again when it's in endless loop re-runs.
