My return and a rant

I enjoyed myself at the Japanese Village (Though I found Concordia was the name of the village and not the town it's in. That was embarrassing.) But I found my self disgusted by something. Half way through the trip I was taken to a festival called "I-Day". At I-Day Mori No Ike (My Village) gets together with all the other villages including the infamous French camp, Lac Du Bois. It's infamous for trying to upstage the other villages at every I-Day and flat out refusing entry into the village for people who they deem "Not pretty enough to join" so that they only have the best looking people for their I-Day stage performance. If you think that's what I find disgusting you have yet to here the worst part. The Girl/Boy ratio is something like 30:3 with a heavily Female majority. When the time came for them to dance on stage they all wore revealing shirts and the shortest shorts I've ever seen, it was almost a f**king strip club up there. Disgusted yet? Well I'm afraid there's one more detail. Most of the girls in their slutty dance were PRETEENS! Yes, between 12 and 14.

I do have to say that 14 year olds are not necessarily preteens, but I do agree with you that it is too young to be dressing them up in skimpy outfits and parading them as eye candy; to me that's frankly disgusting and there are some grown men responsible for that who should have their balls surgically removed without the benefit of anesthesia.

In places there are differences in social mores, and I am certainly not anybody's example of any social mores, but something which transcends social borders regardless is age; when someone is still growing physically and mentally, this is not the time to be taking advantage of them or presenting them as objects of desire.

It's not exactly as though we are much different in this country of our treatment of children. There are plenty of adults who plant ideas of religion, politics, and out-dated family values, beliefs and bigotries in children's heads, bringing them up to be the same stupid adults they are.

In some ways it's the destiny of children to become those who exploit them, and just continue the cycle again.
