Similar to my anchovies thread, I noticed lots of people dislike olives. I love 'em and eat them straight out the jar with a toothpick.

What about you and olives? vote!

I can't get into eating olives by themselves, but I like them on pizza, in salads, etc.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

I like olives.  The green ones with the pimentos are my fave's, but black ones are pretty good too.

You can keep those darned things with the pits in them though   :bouncegiggle:

I love the green and the black.  I've had them both as some form of an appetizer, but I really love the black olives in a Greek salad.
Hold onto your dreams ....

Only the black ones.On pizza. And in spagetti. And on subs.

When I get the munchies now, I'll go for crackers, some kind of cheese the harder the better, pickled hot peppers, and olives... I prefer green, but I'll eat any kind of olive or pickled vegetable.

I do like olives. Although I prefer black olives on pizza and subs, if I'm eating them straight I prefer green olives.

Though I can understand if someone doesn't like olives as it is, about like any vegetable (fruit), an acquired taste...when you first taste one, you either acquire a like for them or you are disgusted by them.

Flangepart

Loves me the green. Slice 'em and melt cheese over them on chips or crackers. Add hot peppers, it's the good life.

I think "Yuck.I hate olives" pretty much says it for me.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

I love olives . . . I guess I prefer black ones, but only slightly.  I can eat both black and green with great enjoyment.

Olives.

Americans are mostly amateurs, when it comes to olives. Though, they are becoming more knowledgable about the subject.

If you want to find experts on the subject, then you have to go to the Med, where they have been raising olives for almost 7000 years. Which reminds me , , , I'll be in the Med for about two weeks next summer.

Spain (Been there)
France (4th trip, but first to southern France)
Italy (Never been there before)
Croatia (Never been there before)
Malta (Never been there before)

But all areas where they raise olives. So, I should be able to indulge my like for olives.

Black or green?
Actually, there are other colors, including a green that shades into purple, but if an olive is in something or on something, then I prefer black. But, if I am eating olives by themselves, then I prefer green.

Stuffed or unstuffed?
Either way. But, while olives normally come stuffed with pimento, they also come stuffed with almonds, pearl onions, cheese, garlic, and anchovies. I've had the first three, but not the others.

Pitted or unpitted?
Definitely pitted. I don't like having to work around the pit in an olive.
