What was that weird movie abt rope sex from the 90s?

I think this was made in the 90s about a guy in new york I guess meets a girl at a bus stop. They hook up and stuff. He lives in this nice two story apartment. He practices rope sex on the girl. The movie wasn t too sexually scenic but the scenes were intense, like one scene he put big ropes around her by the fireplace n candlelight. The movie was quiet most of the time, the girl eventually leaves the guy. The actor had dark eyes n dark kinda curly short hair. The girl was brunette too maybe.
