Reminicing about Pulp Fiction...

I am watching a movie where someone had a $1 Steak. Very old movie. Set in Australia... Where he is in a small remote town. But still I was like "$1 steak! That was the time ey?" But that made me remember pulp fiction. And how once a $5 milkshake was OUTRAGEOUS! Now it is like ... ehhhhh Now I am trying too figure out how much $5 back then would equal too by today's standard. And reminiscing about pulp fiction. What other fond memories are too be found in pulp fiction.

You know, I could not get into Pulp Fiction, and in fact, it was the movie that turned me off Quentin Tarantino.  Loads of friends loved it, but I just wasn't enjoying it.  The furthest I got was where Uma Thurman's character drops dead with blood dripping from her nose; up until that point, the movie seemed like it was going nowhere, and everyone was making needless digressions about nothing in particular.  This was years ago, and were I to watch it now, my opinion may be different.

I'm actually more interested in the movie set in Australia you're talking about.  Which movie was that?

According to http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm, $5 in 1994 is the equivalent of $8.11 today. A pretty expensive milkshake.

And yeah, Archivist, I would watch it again. I thought the segments with Uma Thurman were the weakest; it gets better from there. I'd be a little surprised if it hasn't been spoiled for you; I saw it early so I wasn't ready for the big surprise.

My best friend and I tried to sneak in and see Pulp Fiction--which IMHO is a great movie, a total instant classic---and got busted because I was fifteen and she was barely sixteen. We even offered the usher a ten buck bribe to let us stay, but he wouldn't play ball, so it became forbidden fruit from that point on. So did Twin Peaks when I was eleven and not allowed to watch it. At least the experiences taught me that one of the best ways to generate interest is to deny something to someone.

I was never really into the movie but I liked Samuel L. Jackson's character. I prefer Resevoir Dogs by far. Pretty much the only QT movie I dig. I must say though he has excellent taste when it comes to his influences.

The only QT movie I dig is Kill Bill Vol 1, although I still have yet to see Deathproof, which seems like it would appeal to me.  His influences and likes are very cool, including the spaghetti westerns and Shaw Brothers kung fu movies.  It's interesting to see how someone can be influenced by something that you really like, and yet their work isn't really to your taste.
