^ Sometimes- in fact most of the time, I think we are less than animals.
I think sometimes we're too complex for our own good.
Of course I wonder if crabs think fish are flying.
:bouncegiggle:  I think Man is MORE.  We are not better.  We have the potential to be better.
If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

I am 100% sure that we are indeed more than animals.
interestingly the biggest chunk of my 1st year philosopy degree course was centered around this exact topic... so you can state you're 100% sure, but I can assure you countless people have devoted years to studying, writing about and discussing this without coming to such firm conclusions. (not suggesting you are 'wrong' btw...)

"More" certainly is not intended to suggest "better".

of course not - but my point was those are topics which can and do inspire and provoke a lot of existential debate and discussion, with many different opinions flying around.

when you're starving hungry or freezing cold, that is your instinctive realisation, and not really your 'considered opinion'... therefore it is something we can (or might as well be) 100% sure of.

that was my point anyway, for what it's worth... I'm now gonna stuff my face and make a fire.

This is all very nice- but how many people do you meet in real life that are going to follow these niceties?

What I do is try not to engage with people like that. You can only work on yourself.

We were having an interesting discussion.  I do not consider thoughtful behavior or fair discussion as "niceties".

I wanted to spell " discussion".

Yes. I prefer to sit and chill and trade thoughts then scream at each other.
But sometimes you get pushed to your limitations- no matter what "side" your on-and gloves are off.

It's hard not to engage with people like that.
Seems to me I have to engage with all sorts of people, and just acting like they are not there is not a solution.
If you yap at each other long enough, you all will be ok someday!

It is hard not to engage with people when your emotions are engaged. It's also hard to try to see things from their perspective and understand that they may have a point, even if they've phrased it badly or in a confrontational way.

Have you ever noticed that if someone posts something "controversial," and no one responds to it, it just gets forgotten? But if you fan the spark, it turns into a flame war.
