Hey, this week end, I saw Skeeters and Ticks in a raw.
They were out quite at the same year and has very similar subject (giant mutated mosquitoes).

What is your favorite between these 2 movies.

I really prefered Ticks. Better gore, perfect stupids teen team and complete bastards. Athough I saw skeeter at first, it made me fall asleep for 20 minutes and it was closest from 50's monster B-movies.

Ticks, definitely.  The gore is nauseating, as well as the performance of Alfonso Ribero (Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air) as a supposed street tough.  I loved it!  Especially when his body is ripped to shreds.

Ken Begg and I had a short discussion about giant bug films after the last B-Fest, it soon turned to Skeeter and Mosquito.

Try the second film.  It has better pacing than the first, tosses the romantic subplot out the window, and uses an alien spacecraft as it's plot object to justify giant mosquitos.  I prefer it over Ticks.

Skeeter sucks. Ticks was alot better than skeeter, but it doesn't hold a candle to MOSQUITO!!!. Mosquito is far more cheesey than Ticks and Skeeter. The best part is when the Mosquitos suck that guys blood and his eyes pop out. Sweet!!!!

One Saturday afternoon while I was visiting my in-laws, Mosquito was shown on the Scifi Channel.  I sat and watched it, (since there was nothing else to do).  Drool started falling out of my mouth as I watched the mind numbing performances and special effects.  Then the guy that I thought look liked Santa Claus comes out with the chain saw.  I couldn't hold in the laughter.  I felt like writing to the Scifi Channel a joke e-mail something like this:

"As a native of Louisiana, I was appalled at the movie, Mosquito, that depicted the harming of our native bird.  Nowhere in the film credits was it indicated that no giant mosquitoes were harmed during the filming of this motion picture.  I can only assume that all of the examples of this rare and beautiful species were killed during this production.  As a member of the Society for the Preservation of Louisiana Animals and Territories, (S.P.L.A.T.), I will file a formal complaint with the local authorities."

(P.S. Thanks for the fun movie)

It was great!

"Mosquito" has a special place in my heart.  I was just starting a new job, doing travelling consulting, and the night before my first trip I was packing my bags and ironing my shirts and stuff; this was a big event in my life.  And Mosquito happened to be playing on USA "Up All Night" that night and I watched it as I prepared for my new job and new life (I'd just left the Air Force)  I thouroughly loved the bad movie, and every time I see it it kinda catches in my throat as something special.

Give Skeeter a break! Was it awful? Hell yes! But, it has its moments. remeber the guy who was tearring up the desert in his car and later we find out he has his wife(or girlfriend don't really remember wich) locked in the trunk? That was hilarious! Of course she kicks his ass and then he gets killed by the Skeeters, but damn, what a moment. If the movie had been about these two and forgoten about those losers then this movie could of been a classic!
