Just saw this movie, which true to it's name denounces Moore and points out a lot of the reasons that the filmmakers think as to why he hates America. Though I am anti-Moore (and have been since long before I heard of this movie), I cannot say that I am 100% behind this film. For one thing this film does one of the same things that most ditresses me about Moore, which is to show the filmmaker constantly. Like it's counterpart of written journalism I think you should not exactly know who makes the best documentary's or at least only know their core values in order to get a sense if they have bias. In short the newsmakers should not be in the news. Anyway, if you see Faranheit 9/11. Bowling for Columbine, or any other of Moore's films, I would recommend seeing this just to get an alternative view.

The more I hear about the guy, the more I hat Moore myself, but c'on, I don't think he hates America. You wanna hear from people who hate America, you read European press. You won't be able to sleep at nights after that.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Personally I can't stand Moore.  To me he's just the same as all the other sensationalists in the media [of which there are many.]

But that being said, I do appreciate that he's trying to show a different view on things.

To brand an alternative view as unAmerican and to say he hates America, well go ahead.  I happen to disagree with a lot of policies coming from both the American and Australian governments [but it doesn't mean I hate either one], and to just blanky dismiss them as 'if you
hate it so much just go somewhere else,' is actually quite dangerous.

And moreover, to completely thrash a guy who just happens to disagree with policy, as much of an arse I think he is, is just silly.  It's just as bad.  Does that mean there's going to be a film about the guys who made 'Michael Moore Hates America' called 'We hate Michael Moore because he hates America?'

When will the madness end??

But yeah, to vaguely make a point, like Neville said; there's a lot of people out there who really REALLY don't like America, for whatever reason they have, and there sure is a big list you could probably pick from.

And whilst there's people like that out there, there's going to be a market for films like Moore's and then of course a market for that backlash and so on.

It's all a cycle really...

I usually try to stay out of too many political threads when they crop up here, since I come here to escape stuff like this.

But a film about the Michael Moore haters by people who hate them would more likely be nalled something along the lines of: "Giving Patriotism a Bad Name", or "More American Than You", or "You're Either with Us.....", or "Liberty's a***oles", etc.

A film about them from people on their side would be titled something like: "The Last Patriots", "United We Stand" (the irony wouldn't even stand a chance), "Freedom Warriors", We Are America", etc.

That's the disgusting problem with the divisive tone to political debate, especially in media circles, in this country. The Right paints anyone they view as not up to their standard of patriotism and loyalty as the bed buddy of Osama bin Laden or as the reincarnation of Neville Chamberlain. The Left considers everyone on the Right to be bloodthristy war profiteers and budding fascists who want to draft the poor to fight in their wars of empire or as fundie nutjobs actively trying to bring about the Second Coming so they can get their "Left Behind" fetish cranked up.

Hmm... I guess, in accordance with your viewpoint, I hate everyone... because my view is different from everyone else's. True, I can see eye to eye with some people, but we'll always differ on some minor point somewhere. I suppose it really depends upon wether I choose to obsess over this and nitpick to the point I move out into the wilderness, soup up my own ethanol powered vehicle, grow my own food, stop paying attention to the power hungry (yet decidedly irresponsible) media, and learn to live without electricity. No capitalism? Nope. Guess I hate America... better get to work on that hidy hole I'm going to be needing when the FBI decides to do another Janet Reno styled raid... Anybody know where I can buy a good gas mask?

Corporate America can kiss my ass... oh, and death to the infidels (that last part has to be standard... I'm going to end every letter or email I write from now on with that).

You make it sound as if hating America is a bad thing.

I don't have a problem with Moore presenting an alternative viewpoint; it's his methods I dislike. He manufactures scenarios and calls it a documentary. He cuts and pastes and outright lies about what he shows solely in order to promote his viewpoint. Then he wraps it all up pretty and says, "Here's how things really are!" He's just as intolerant as the American conservatives are stereotyped to be (if not moreso). If he were at least honest about what he's doing (commenting on American society and promoting his/his group's viewpoint), then I would have no real problem with him, but to present fiction as documented fact is slimy, whatever your viewpoint is.

As for whether he hates America, I can't say. His unguarded comments that occasionally get reported show that he hates most Americans (or at least considers himself to be so superior to them that they are insignificant in comparison to his greatness). I personally don't agree with the man, and, from what I've seen of him, don't care for him personally, but I don't have the time to hate someone I don't know (or anyone I do know for that matter). I haven't watched his movies and don't plan to, having heard enough of his viewpoint and about his methods to know that it would only anger me to watch what he calls the truth.

Moore is a "dud" and very tame in the field of of alternate points of view. He borrows much from other deeper facted people on the same subjects. He's just giving people what he thinks he can get away with. If he goes to far people won't listen. He's trying to find the view that people can swallow. No big leaps for him. The problem with a lot of these alternate news/view people is they are not for anything important and just point out the hidden facts of the powerful. They have no goal themselves so they expose the elite who definately have some kind of plan to keep their own world/financial power. It's all staged. The best slave is the one who thinks he/she is free. Perhaps that is all that matters. The mindless don't seem to mind and they don't seem to want to even know what is going on as long as they get to work, pay the mortgage, shop, and be entertained. : ) The world has no goal.

Well said, Derf.  Moore garners about as much attention from me as a house fly - irritating when I notice him, completely out of mind otherwise.  I've never seen any of his movies and do not plan to.

Some might consider it a bad thing for an American citizen, one who lives under the freedoms (moral, economic and social) that this country provides, to hate America.  It seems a bit hypocritical to me.

I'm NOT saying that as an American citizen that I have to like everything my country or its leadership does.  I do have a bit of a problem with that set of individuals (and I really don't know if Moore is in this category or not) who claim there is NOTHING right about this country, yet continue to live here.  There are alternatives that might suit their attitudes/belief systems a little better.

In other words, talk is cheap, and actions speak louder than words.  If one really hates America, move somewhere else.  It's not that hard.  There seems little point in staying in a country you actually are free to leave if you choose if you hate it.

I love demolition derby's, watching redneck Nazi rallies on mainstreet(so I can yell insults at them),pompus asses like Moore, idiots like Jimmy Swaggert, racist black comedians, George Bush making a total ass of himself on national TV, getting drunk on my front porch with the Dead Kennedy's on full blast, wearing a Charlie Manson t-shirt with the slogan "Is it hot in here,or am I crazy?" into a redneck bar, watching rich kids on the"Real World" whine about they're so-called-'problems',screaming "GODZILLA!GODZILLA!" while pointing skyward when I see a Japenese tourist-(most of em laff),...I could go on forever. You could live in Bahgadad,or China,or some other war-torn hell hole.

Shouldn't it be "Godzeera?"  hehehe.

I've seen most of Michael Moore's movies, not so much because I love the man or anything, but I like watching him get all worked up.  It looks like his head is going to explode.

I get sick of hearing the screeching from both sides of the fence, but I love America and what it stands for.  I don't agree with certain things things going on right now in the news, but I'm happy I have the right to SAY I don't agree with them.  I don't like the fact that other countries hate us because of a few dumb f***ers in the spotlight, but there isn't much I can do about it, until I meet someone face to face and have a chance to talk with them.
