TALLADEGA NIGHTS (2006) - Stupid fun movie starring Will Farrell as a NASCAR driver who comes from a messed up childhood. This film was different and just seemed to be all over the track with its outrageous degenerate comedy, but ends with a feel good ending.

 (7 out of 10 Stars) Fun film to pass the time.

I liked it overall but thought that it could have been a lot better considering Will Ferrel's lead up to this one.  Stupidly fun, which is good, but seemed a bit rushed to me and it kind of detracted a little.

You gotta love the "Shake and Bake" combo though!

Yea, "Shake and Bake" was something else. The whole film was like DUMB AND DUMBER meets NASCAR.

"It's not fried. It's 'Shake 'n' Bake.'" Don't underestimate the number of people who prefer 'Shake 'n' Bake' to fried.

I've been meaning to post this someplace on the NET, and this looks like a good enough place as any. Look at where 'Shake 'n' Bake' placed.

The Top 10 Grossing Films in 2006

01. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest"
02. "Cars"
03. "X Men: the Last Stand"
04. "The Da Vinci Code"
05. "Superman Returns"
06. "Ice Age: the Meltdown"
07. "Over the Hedge"
08. "Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby"
09. "Click"
10. "Mission: Impossible III"

And that is the U.S. gross only. While the #1 film grossed over $400 million in the U.S., it grossed over $1 billion worldwide. As for the rest, the #2 to the #5 film earned between $299 and $200 million, and the #6 to the #10 film earned between $199 to $100 million. I don't have the more exact figures.

A couple of more facts. Three of the top ten are animated films. And half of the films are either sequels to or remakes of earlier films.

I had the good fortune of seeing this in DVD this christmas. It was brilliant.

The two annoying kids where like living one-liners.

Mr_Vindictive

Loved this one.  Picked it up on DVD right before Christmas.

It has had the "Anchorman" effect on my wife and I.  We are constantly quoting it.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

That family dinner scene towards the beginning was really depraved. Very hard not to laugh.

D-Man

I'm just glad I found a dumb comedy that was actually funny, and doesn't rely on a toilet humor gag every 5 minutes.

Automan2000

I havent seen this one yet. So far every movie with Will Ferrel that I have seen absolutely bored me to tears so there hasn't really been any incentive to watch this one.

BTW, if you saw the movies in theaters, stick with the PG-13 theatrical version on DVd instead of the so called "unrated-uncut" version.

It actually drops a couple of great scenes from the theatrical cut and puts back in mostly pointless footage that was dropped with good reason.

This one just arrived today from Netflix. Will probably give it a spin tomorrow night.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

there's a few good additions the line
"Wanna play G.I. Joes?"
"You know I do"
was a good addition

Otherwise i agree most of the addition scenes are pointless

What about the bit that was cut out, where he's teaching himself to fart musically? I thought that was pretty funny.

The lady friend and I went to see this in the theater earlier in the year - neither of us knew what to expect really - hadn't heard much about it (it was our only night out as we can seldom get a babysitter) and we both laughed our butts off, and I'm no Will Farrel fan.

In the unrated version, the scene in which he steals his mom's car while she's in the store in addition to the whole "I wanna go fast" part leading up to that is gone.

The scene showing Lucious and his pit crew working at Lucious' Car Wash is also gone.
