Don't ya just love completely gratuitous self-promotion? What a coincidence, me too. :teddyr:

Let's take it one step further though and turn it into show and tell.

My posts aimed at webmasters on this board (and I know that there are several of you with your own sites) usually go pretty much unnoticed (okay, they die off without anybody replying :tongueout:).

Well this thread is designed to get you to reply by giving you the opportunity to not only show off a banner you use for your site, but to also link the banner.

*Also note that if some of you have a site, but you don't have a banner but would like one, I can provide a collection of blank banners, for free, which you can customize for your site.

Example: This is a blank banner commonly available which I customized for one of my newest sites.

Don't ya just love how I sneakily worked that one in. :tongueout:

This is a banner which I put together, using PhotoImpact, for my CargoShip site. I am going to try to put a new background on it which matches the site background better, as the background that is presently on it is the corny background I originally had on the site.

This is one which I put together for a site I built for someone else using some of the images from the site on the banner (I took all of the shots myself), again using PhotoImpact.

I have some more, but I'll pass on showing them as they are for adult sites.

If you don't know how to live link an image, just create your standard url link, then in the place where you would normally place text for the link, between the url tags, place your image tags instead.

Now it's time for you to show off some of your banners.

Got any cool ones that I can put on the Badmovies.org Myspace page?

Send me the template and I'll see if I can make a few humorous banners.
Is there a tutorial to show you how to make one?  I've never created a banner before.
Paper banners...yes  Online banners...no.

There is a site, 1Banner, which has a huge collection of banners you can download freely. You do need to sign up for a membership, which is free, in order to download banners (these are all banners with images to which you can add your own text). Sometimes they are a little slow at responding to sign-ups; I had to sign-up twice using different email addresses. Since the site is in German, you may need a translator which you can find on my portal along the right hand sidebar (max translation of 150 words at once, though you can use it as many times as you like).

In order to customize the banner, you need an image editor which has a text function. Lickily, you can get a free one here which will also edit PSD files, layers, and take Photoshop compatible plugins.

If your provider won't allow you to link the banner from their server you can get free hosting for it with Photobucket or Imageshack and link it to anywhere you like, with the one exception that Imageshack will frequently block it if you hotlink it to a topsites list.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I'm with Ed.  Some of those are absolute classics.  Wish there were some new ones.

Actually, I intend to create some new ones now and then.  That will probably happen after the the first of the coming year.  Still working on getting everything going again and, funny thing, doing so is like coaxing an old steam engine back to life.

I've got two of them on the Badmovies.org Myspace page.
The Kaiju-be-Gone and the Chopping Mall banners are up.
I've saved every Badmovies.org humorous banner to my Imageshack favorites but for some odd reason I'll paste the code in and when I view the page, the animation/image changes don't happen on a couple of them.
Weird.
