Japan is know for a lot of sick stuff over there.  Among other things, rape is a common element in it's "regular" (ie live action) porn industry.  And I won't even get into the films they occasionally make that involve other body functions.

I don't know though if stuff like that is considered "mainstream" entertainment, or if that's just some a certain segment of Japanese society that enjoys stuff like that.

Ironically, you can do rape and whatnot, but you STILL can not show the genitals in Japan, cause, after all, standards have drawn somewhere.

If that's the sickest thing you've ever seen, then you haven't been on the internet very long.

Take your pick of live action, game shows, anime, manga, etc. For such a rigid society so concerned with formality, propriety, and honor when they let it out they really let it out. Remember the stories of vending machines selling young girls underwear, with higher prices for the used, unwashed pairs, that are supposedly popular with repressed business types? The place is certain a study in contrasts, but so are segments of US culture.

I though the old blue dot digital blurring of naughty bits had to do more with not depicting pubic hair rather than the organs themselves, since the hair is considered disgusting. Made me wonder if shaving the offending follicles would allow the rest to be shown. After all, this is a country where communal bathing among family members was considered acceptable and totally non-sexual.

I've seen much more sick things than that, I even do some sick stuff myself just to shock people. Recently I finished up a comic about these two siamese twin brothers, I call it "Cut to F***"...you can see where that story is going. I had this one idea to do a comic about a guy that rips the fetuses out of pregnant women so he can use it as a condom as he rapes their dead bodies but that's kinda too sick, I can't believe I even came up with such an idea, I should burn in hell just for thinking of it.

Yeah I always thought it was weird that in Japan they blur out pubic hair (even in their porn) but they got movies like "Rapeman" and "Rape!" With rape being a comedic subject to them, you'd think pubic hair was nothing.

I am not trying to be judgemental, but man you have a really wild mind.  Why is that?????

Very true. Have you seen "My neighbour totoro"?
It has this bathing scene in it, that was cut out of the american version. It did find it kind of weird i must admit. But the image of a family bathing together in japan, is like an american family eating a thanksgiving dinner. Symbolises complete family harmony.

Haven't seen it, but not surprised by the cut for here. Can't have some thing that's considered normal and acceptable there, but different from customs here, shown in a movie that kiddies might see and parents would have to explain. Yet siblings and cousins as small children sometimes share baths together here.

They dropped Laputa from the DVD release of Castle in the Sky, despite the Gulliver's Travels inspiration, probably afraid of confusion with "la puta" in Spanish. Maybe not from Latinos and fluent Spanish speakers, but from we gringos who only know a few words either from high school or when they only know the "dirty" words.

I used to drive a Chevy Nova, if I had a dollar for every time someone pointed out the whole "Nova/ no va" bit of irony, I could have paid cash for a new and much nicer car.

At least it wasn't a Pinto

My dad owned one of those at one time. Someone stole the headlight rims off of it one day. So somewhere out there was someone else with a Pinto that they wanted to fix up or repair and were too cheap or too ashamed to pay for parts or too lazy to get them from the junkyard.

You mean "cannot" right?

DOH!  Yeah, I do... there, fixed it.  That's what happens you type fast and don't bother the re-read what you've written.

Well, maybe, just not sure if rape as popular entertainment is a good thing.  I'd be interested to see what the real crime stats in Japan are for that sort of thing...

Hmm.. someone has issues with his mom, I bet...  :tongueout:

And to think, I thought I was sick for coming with a Mad TV style skit called The Andrew Yates Daycare center or the Columbine Soundtrack list. You make me look mild in comparison.

Wonder if a film about a MAN who goes around raping other men would be considered entertaining in Japan or if the audience would regard that as "not right".  It would be ironic if they did, huh?

Kinda of reminded of that story about how a lot men walked out of theater's showing the movie Delieverance because of "the scene".  Think too many men today have this perception of rape that a bunch of Amazonian women with all proper proportions will show up and "force" the guy to do stuff...

Got to admit, rape (even the simulated kind) as popular entertainment is not my cup of tea (or sake as the case may be). I've seen about two full on hentai anime, and that was about three too many.

Whatever the reported crime rate for rape is in Japan, I wonder what the disparity between actual occurrences and reported cases is. I'd guess the stigma on the victim is still higher than it is here (which can still be very bad), so there would a lower rate of reporting an assault than in the US. Guess I could try to look it up.

Not sure if man on male rape would be regarded the same way over there. Has anyone seen enough extreme films from Japan like the more notorious stuff from Takeshi Miike to know if he or others in his range of filmmaking have done anything on the subject? What I've seen of his work isn't enough to say.

Also what is the cultural level of awareness of prison life over there? Here gay prison sex and rape are common subjects for shows like OZ and certainly sitcom fodder even if it is just on the level of say a character worrying about being imprisoned and " becoming the girlfriend of a guy named Bubba" type jokes.
