We're all just victims of circumstance

Looks as though JJ Abrams is going to direct as well as produce and co-write the next movie installment of Star Trek.

I don't know that the plot they're reporting is correct or not. From other sources I've read the movie jumps around quite a bit .

I'm OK with that. In fact, I'm elated that Paramount has brought in new blood to help steer the franchise. The Berman-Braga machine had run out of steam long ago. I'm still just iffy on the idea of going back to young Kirk and Spock, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Didn't see M:I:III. But based on watching some of his TV series, it'll start out really great for the first fifth of the run time. Get mysterious in the next segment, drawing the audience in more thinking it's building up to something great. Stagnate and contradict itself after that. Then give the audience the impression it's all being made up as it goes along. Finally ending in a pointless attempt to tie up loose ends after most of the audience have given up.

Just hope he doesn't decide to do the music as well. Minimalist creepy synth notes held for way too long jazzed up with Pro Tools. Like paying $8 to listen to "Hearts of Space" on public radio.

I'm not much of a Trek fan the past couple of years, but I was really hoping they would leap forward a few decades from "TNG/DS9/Voyager" era and take up with new characters and new scenarios. Going back to contradict the past the diehards felt they knew about already worked so well with Enterprise. Star Wars prequels also.

It;s supposed to be in the future, go forward some more.

I dunno, a young Kirk and Spock just doesn't do anything for me.  It would be real hard for me to accept a premise that puts them in mortal danger.

I don't see the point of doing young Kirk and Spock.  It speaks of pure desperation on the part of those in charge of the Trek franchise.

"MI3" really left me cold, so I'm not too keen on Abrams directing a Trek movie.
