THE PRIVATE WAR OF MAJOR BENSON (1955) - Only saw the last 30 minutes of this film starring Charlton Heston. It looks like a good film about a Military Academy and the Major played by Heston who seems to have gotten on the bad side of the cadets and they all but one petition to have the Major removed. Didn't see what he did to make the kids dislike him, but he has a change of heart after the smallest goes AWOL and tries to catch a bus home to L.A.. After sharing a hamburger and a walk back to the academy things start to change except the Major gets a letter from the Dept. of Defense for him to leave in 48 hours. The female doctor seems to have taken a liking to him and helps him catch the measles, so he can't leave and the young R.O.T.C kids straighten up and provide everyone wirh a great drill for all at graduation. Really nice film that I want to see from the beginning. TCM played it tonight. Here you can find more at http://imdb.com/title/tt0048513/

I have seen the whole movie and you're right, it is good, the whole idea of a dedicated professional career officier being forced to serve at a military prep school is quite funny, especially as played by Mr. Heston, well worth a view.
