How Do You Like Your Steak?

I was at the grocery store the other day and was browsing the meat section for a nice steak.
The meat guy was there restocking the meats and as I was looking at the Sirloins, I asked him, "What's the difference between Top Sirloin and Sirloin?"

He told me that Top Sirloin is the first few cuts from the top and has more flavor.



I chose Rare plus.  I like my steaks a little bloody...but not too much.

So how 'bout you?

When I do eat steak, it has to be well done or not at all.

I was flipping through channels the night before last and when I switched it to HBO, Passenger 57 and that very scene you mentioned was on.

Well now, thank you for being considerate enough to include an 'I don't eat meat' option; being that I'm a vegetarian.

Kind of depend on the quality of the meat, I stopped buying meat at the grocery years ago. We raise, feed, baby and nice gentle Angus cow named Betsy for about 18-24 months. Then BOOM!! we shoot her in the head and chopper her up.(Actually anymore I load her on a trailer and take to the slaughter house on hoof and pick her up in wrapped in paper, much quicker.) There is just no comparison in quality. So with that I like Rare Plus to Bloody Rare. We had some nicely marbled 2" thick Ribeye's night  ... it was de-lish!

I have to admit to you Menard...
There were two reasons I had for writing this thread.

The first was obvious...to find out how people here like their steaks cooked.
The other was to find out who here is a vegetarian or a vegan.

If you don't eat meat, I totally respect that.  
I mean...who am I to tell you what you should and shouldn't eat?

Now please don't get offended, but I've always personally viewed vegetarianism and especially veganism as a psychological disorder or the direct symptom of another psychological disorder within that person's mind.

I'm sure I'll catch hell for saying that.  

I've talked to both vegetarians and hardcore vegans and I don't buy most of their reasons for not eating meat.
Some people claim that they don't eat meat for environmental, ethical, economical or health reasons...and I respect that too.
Doesn't mean I have to believe it though.

Humans have been eating meat for millions of years.
Millions...of...years...
Why is meat singled out among all of the foods out there?
You don't see anybody claiming to be a meatetarian and swearing off fruits & veggies do you?

The only acceptable and logical reasons I've directly heard from vegetarians and vegans as to why they don't eat meat is that they just don't like the taste of it or it's against their religion.
That is totally understandable to me and I accept that.
There are certain foods I won't eat because I think that they're just plain nasty.
Like Chinese food.

But all of the other reasons they give like economical or ethical objections just don't hold any weight with me.
I firmly believe that people who don't eat meat for those specific reasons suffer from a psychological disorder.

Now I wait for ulthar to come along and rip into me...

Lot's of vegetarians just don't like the thought of killing animals. Despite living mainly by instinct they still have brains and nerves, unlike plants. And even if we have been doing it for years they see something wrong with it and thus don't do it.

Actually my mom doesn't like it because she thinks it's gross after cooking it after all these years.

Um, Well Done is not equivical to being burnt to a crisp.
That aside, I like Top Sirloin steak best when it swims in A1 sauce, well done or medium well, at least.
