Avatar problems...

I recently got a hold of a pic I'd like to use as my avatar...I went to shrinkpictures.com to have it sized for this site, and saved it...but, the only way I can actually get the pic to show up on the site is if I post the web address of the image, and the website deletes it after a few hours.  But if I try to upload the same saved image from my computer, nothing shows up...

Is there something I'm supposed to do to make this place accept an image from my desktop?

The file size is probably too large.  An avatar can be 100 by 100 pixels and up to 30 KB in size.  I would bet that the resizing site is not reducing the file size to under 30 KB.

Actually, I checked the file size, and it's about 16kb.  I also specified 100 pixels exactly before having the site do the job.

Never mind...I resized the pic again with the site, downloaded it, then uploaded from my desktop...seems to have worked this time.
