Which movies have gone to far with the sequels?

I never really watched any of the SAW movies--not into horror myself---but simply hearing that they have already got like six more out and twenty million more sequels to come gives me enough incentive to say "ENOUGH!" these SAW movies are simply gonna end up like Chuckie,Freddy,Jason, or the Halloween movies...taking it long past it's prime.

Sandlot 2 anyone?

The first one was a gem but the sequel sucked.

Captain Tars Tarkas

If you hate Sandlot 2, you will absolutely hate the upcoming Sandlot 3.

Almost all DTV sequels suck, but they make money because they are so cheap.  So many are coming down the pipeline it is a flood of terror.  Studios have entire divisions that do nothing but make direct to video sequels now.

The Highlander films should have stopped with the first one. At least, any one where Connor Macleod was the main character. Duncan-based films are ok.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I agree, somehow the sequels took away what was so good about the original...as they always do. Nightmare on Elm street made scary freddy into a comedian, same with Terminator

check out the list of this years sequels

In 2008 we get Star Trek XI, Terminator 4 (ugh wasn't 3 bad enuff) and Rambo IV (Who's idea was this one? Rambo is like a geriatric now)

Hmm, I do wonder if I'm the only person alive who prefers HIGHLANDER 2 (the director's cut version) to HIGHLANDER?

JaseSF, no, you're not, I actually liked the Highlander sequel:teddyr: I'm not sure if the Highlander 2 I saw was the director's cut or not but I liked it a lot. Some nice lines and a wonderful sight gag where that tanker with the lips on it seems like it is going to kiss Christopher Lambert and then it explodes. Sean Connery was also quite good, especially the scene where he intrudes on the production of Omelet:tongueout:
"$h-thead? What's a $h-thead?"  :teddyr:

The worst sequels that I have ever seen are the Operation Delta Force ones, all four of them, with all except one being made in SA.

The other series I loathed were the Shark Attack films. Just plain bad.

In the version you saw, were the immortals from outer space or from a period so far back in the Earth's past that there's no surviving evidence that their society existed? There are other tell-tale signs, but that was always the easiest way for me to remember.

Though the Saw flicks have been hit or miss for me, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy to see a non-typical horror movies series that was popular enough to be pumping out a new sequel on consecutive Halloweens. Reminds me of the '80s when Friday the 13th did the same thing... even though I never saw them on release, as my parents were more interested in taking me to the drive-in to see stuff like Mad Max and Cheech & Chong...

  Hi tomb.

Yes, that was the one I saw, with the aliens / immortals on a seemingly desert planet which could have been Earth. I still like the film, even though it must have been cut as I saw it on TV.

Okay, if you saw the "they're all aliens" version, that's the original release version known as The Quickening, in which the immortals are actually aliens from the planet Zeist who were exiled to Earth 500 years ago and whose just so happen to become immortal when their alien genes are introduced to Earth's unique atmosphere. In The Renegade Version (i.e. the director's cut), the immortals are actually from a time so far back in Earth's past that it pre-dates the dinosaurs and the whole "immortality" thing is simply a genetic mutation.

Either one's waaaaay out there, but considering it's just a movie, that's okay.

 Thanks, tomb, I checked the VHS that I copied off the TV and you're right, it is The Quickening.

I have just been to your site ~ my first time, it looks great.  Incidentally, I just had to laugh ~ you have a film on there that was made by friends of mine in South Africa. That film is the brilliantly bad (or is that being kind?) Space Mutiny which I have seen and I shudder then and now.

I haven't had the guts to tell them that the film has been riffed on Mystery Science Theatre.  :teddyr:

That's the kind of thing I'd be proud of though!  :teddyr:

While I enjoyed the second film somewhat, the 1999 version of The Mummy really did not need a sequel. What the series really does not need is a third film, especially one that sounds as goofy as this: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=41332
