I've been actually wanting to check this out. Saw it in Best Buy the other day. The concept is really intriguing.

And it's well done, too (as you might expect from the BSO) -- good solid music that doesn't just rely on the gimmick.

Straight Outta Lynwood by Weird Al Yankovic.

All this week:

The legendary "outlaw" band that was alt-country before there was such a thing.

Their 2002 "reunion" album.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I cut tracks and make mixes, like an imaginary "best of," it's CAPTAIN BEEFHEART this week... been listening to the CAPTAIN a lot the last several months... Though it is exhausting, I immediately found some cool Blues on Trout Mask Replica, I do like listening just to "China Pig" (sounds just like a monophonic prison recording, by a one-off lost artist with mesmerizing guitar and bizarrely authentic vocal) or "Moonlight In Vermont" (I've never heard anybody rock quite this hard, incorporating an old spiritual on acid soaked guitar: "Gimme that old time religion, gimme that old time religion...")  Can't listen to all of it in one sitting, so I cut it up... and like the results much better.  Extremely difficult for even the most diehard music fan, there really is a reason for this record's reputation, and some of it is actually great music !!

...and another run-through on Shatner's Has Been.  I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a CD so much.
