A rather unfortunate album cover, but the music is good.

I liked GARY WRIGHT and remember that album.

I'm listening to a very lucky fleamarket find DIZZY GILLESPIE Groovin' High: The Dizzy Gillespie Story 1939-1950.  This CD is apparently long OOP, and was used, abused, cracked case and dirty, but the disk was fine.  I've had it uploaded on two computers now, but I had to scan the cover as I couldn't find it online.  There is a similarly titled release on Amazon, but it's not this playlist.  These include classic well known recordings ("Salt Peanuts") but mostly unusual studio sets, two versions of the awesome "Groovin' High" plus wonderful live recordings made over din: cocktails, chatter, as background for jaw-droppingly marvelous performances. A real treasure trove!

Some of these tracks have lots of grit and dirt at the source, but the sound's all there.  I don't mind "tape hiss" as long as it's not predominant... and don't mind records showing their age.    :drink:

CARNIVAL OF SOULS Soundtrack

"The Music of Brazil: The Guitar of Laurindo Almeida - Recordings 1949 - 1957" (2 Discs) by Laurindo Almeida

Laurindo is a genius of the acoustic guitar.  Just learned that when Igor Stravinsky needed a guitarist, Laurindo was his go-to guy.

Nice find with the rare Dizzy, AHD.
