I don't know how true this is, but I saw a movie about CBGB and the dude running it saw all these bands go off and be popular so he decided to manage the Dead Boys and produce their first album.  They were so reckless he told them to calm the f*ck down cause their album wasn't out yet and NOBODY would make money if they were dead.  :teddyr:

I got into punk rock late in the game-I had heard of the Ramones and the Sex Pistols in the 70;s-never heard the music.
I didnt start listening to punk untill I ended up in NYC in 1983-my brother Mike-who just got out of prison-turned me on to it.
I was in a small record store-he sed-"Buy this.Buy this."
I got the Cramps,Ramones,Sex Pistols,Black Flag, and the Birthday Party-it was funny-Mike is insane-he used to run around my Ma's house screaming 'Release the bats!" when her Jehova freinds came over.He was 26 years old!

Never knew Nick Cave had a band before The Bad Seeds.  Wow.

Me...I got into punk in the '90s when I was a kid.  There was a 'revival' of sorts with bands like Offspring, Bad Religion, Rancid and Green Day being labeled 'punk' and I dug what they were doing.  Then, they were doing covers of Ramones and Pistols songs and saying that if you dug them, to check the history books and listen to Iggy and The Stooges and The Ramones and Black Flag.  I did.  I don't regret it.

These guys are kinda arty-but I like em-theyre still together ! They played Kalamazoo-which is the biggest city from my really small town of Lawton,Michigan.I mean REALLY small. No fast food joints-all diners and bars and churches.2 diners-2 bars,4 churches.

When I came home from NYC after 3 years-I couldnt believe how redneck these folks were-my old frinds-who listened to Sknyrd and Ted Nugent-did not take to my new musical taste-I sed "f**k em". I ended up in bars with new drug addict freinds. Which was fun at the time-but I ended up in rehab.

I'm a little drunk.  I was big into the third-wave ska-punk bands of the mid '90s.  So I'm jamming on them right now.

X is a pretty decent band, RC.  Yeah, none of my friends really dig punk at all.  They grew up with metal, which I don't mind.  But they'll tell me they love Metallica, but hate Motorhead.  Motorhead is far superior and without them who knows how Metallica would sound.  Plus, Lemmy's kind of a punk-rocker.

I love this clip of the Box Tops-theyre lip syncing-and goofing with it.

I call that clip "the boy with the hair in his eyes".  ALEX CHILTON was a great songwriter, not to mention a great singer.   In that clip, when that record was a hit, he was... sixteen!!!
