Far out man

Was going to make this the same topic as "Indian Witness", but I forgot. A seventies movie, I think, where this one guy kept saying "far out" like a running gag or something. I think the main characters were Americans in Europe. I don't remember much really, but there was something about a Scooby-Dooish legend of a ghostly suit of armor. At the end, that one guy is driving and sees an armored knight in the middle of the road, say's "far out man", crashes and dies.
