Hey everyone
Sorry if this topic comes up more than once as I tried to post it earlier and for some reason it dissapered when i hit post, anyway

There are 2 vague movie memories that have been hounding me for many many years
The first one involved a (probably teenage) boy cycling to a lake/pond/swamp near his home
and a large mechanical crane like monster with glowing eyes rises from the water and as you would expect he gets scared and runs away. I think the monster is explained later in the movie but this is really all I remember about the movie itself, I do remember the video cover looked like the goonies (uk) video cover as it was on the warner brothers label and whatever the front cover was it was similar to the goonies. I've looked through all the warner bros titles on pre-cert.co.uk but to no avail

The next one I remember having a distinct 70's look to it
the first scene was of a man tied up with someone else cutting his chest with a sword/knife the prisoner makes a deal with his tormentor whereby he will bring him a certain ambount of people from the nearby town in exchange for his life.
The only other scene I recall is a man and his son stopping at a petrol station
the son goes to use the bathroom when he is in the stall a hand reaches under and a voice asks for some toilet paper when he gives him the paper he is grabbed.
There may also be a scene of the bad guy hiding under the bleechers at a football game
but this could be a false memory.
hope you guys can help I've been worried that I made these films up in my head
Here's hoping

I think the first one may be The Quest aka Frog Dreaming.

IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091810/

There is a short synopsis here that mentions the mechanical monster:

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Yes that's it!! thanks shadow
strange feeling after all these years to know that it wasn't just a figment of my imagination.
I knew it as the go kids which might have been what made me confuse it with the goonies
(I was very young probably wasn't even able to read at the time)
Now if i can only find out what the other one is my mind will be at rest, at least until some other unnamed movie from my childhood threatens to put me in the nuthouse.

The first one is definitely THE QUEST.  It stars "Eliot" from E.T.
