Does anyone else besides me like these films?  I always loved the overly dark humor in them.  I was watching the second one on television tonight and the parts where Wednesday goes to camp is absolutely hilarious to me.

I will always watch the show when I find it on, and I have the first two movies on DVD.  I loved Joan Cusack in the second one, her performance was over the top.

I could never get into them.  It has been a number of years since I tried (I gave each a single go), so maybe my opinion may have changed.  On the other hand, the original show was never high on my list either.  I think that "Munsters" was more my style and I still was not a regular viewer of that.

 I wasn't wild about the movies...loved the TV show! Maybe that's why...I couldn't picture anyone but John Astin as Charles...and  Jackie Coogan WAS Fester! (Though I did like the camp scene in part 2....Wednesday trading serial killer cards... )

I've always preferred the Addams' Family to the Munsters, and enjoyed to movies.  Loved the camp scene in the first one where Wednesday has the nerd kids as the Indians basically revolt.

I always thought they were the best movies adapted from a TV show, at least the first two.  I think it was mainly because the cast melded together very well.  When I heard they were doing more after Raul died, I was adamant against seeing them.

I liked them, the crazy dark humor and all.  I especially liked the second one (well the first three fourths of it anyway, started to run out of gas by the end), course part of me liking them might of been cause I had an obsessive crush over Christina Ricci at the time...

And yes, I did go to the imdb, but a lot of these I was able to type from memory... :)

BTW, in this case, "Addams" has to two ds.

Didn't care that much for the 1st movie but I thought that 2nd one was a lot of fun mainly because of that baby.

Yes, this sadly is one of those cases wherein only Raul Julia could continue the premise onward -- I simply cannot imagine another current, popular Hispanic actor, good as they may be, in the role.  Jimmy Smits?  Who?

I believe the Munsters did, though the cartoon strip Charles Addams created that was adapted into the Addams Family show might have been around already.

Actually, "The Addams Family" came first by six days. "The Addams Family" premiering on television on September 18, 1964, and "The Munsters" premiering on television on September 24, 1964.

"THE ADDAMS FAMILY" TV series was inspired by cartoons that first appeared in The New Yorker in the 1930s, anybody remember if it appeared in the 50s each week in The Saturday Evening Post?

Yes, this sadly is one of those cases wherein only Raul Julia could continue the premise onward -- I simply cannot imagine another current, popular Hispanic actor, good as they may be, in the role. 

I so agree with you about Raul Julia...I was lucky enough to have seen him live on stage (in MAN OF LA MANCHA).  I really like the old TV series which was just as clever as, and often moreso, than "THE MUNSTERS," but perhaps not as loveable.
