I was watching that AFI's 100 Greatest Movies of the last 100 years and they ran a commercial for Blade Runner: The Final Cut. Looks like it's going to have a limited release in theaters this fall. I had read and article a while back about Joanna Cassidy doing some reshoots wearing the same costume she wore when Deckard wasted her character.

This might be interesting to catch in the theater, but living here in Arkansas I probably will never be able to catch it.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

They're making new scenes to put in Blade Runner?  I'll stick with the director's cut.  No need to go buy another dvd version.

The cool thing is that there's going to be a super-ulta-mega-crazy deluxe edition with the theatrical cut, international cut, director's cut, AND the new final cut.

Australia is getting a pretty b***hin' release:

Disc 1 - The Final Cut (2007):

Ridley Scott's definitive new version of his science-fiction masterpiece includes added & extended scenes, added lines and new and cleaner special effects.

Disc 2 - 3 Complete Film Versions:
'82 U.S. Theatrical version
'82 International Theatrical version
'92 Director's Cut

Disc 3 - "Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner" Documentary

Newly created documentary: Through interviews with the cast and crew, critics and colleagues, this feature-length documentary provides a mainstream-friendly yet meaningful in-depth look at Blade Runner's literary genesis, its challenging production and controversial legacy. When all is said and done, this will be the definitive documentary on the film.

Disc 4 – Enhanced Content Bonus: (TBC)

Inception - Featurettes and galleries devoted to Philip K. Dick, the birth of Cyberpunk and adapting the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
Pre-Production - Featurettes and galleries devoted to script development, conceptual design and abandoned sequences.
Production - Featurettes and galleries devoted to principal photography and locations.
Post-Production - Featurettes and galleries devoted to deleted scenes, music and visual effects.
Release - Featurettes and galleries devoted to marketing and reaction including Trailers, TV Spots and Promotional Featurettes
Legacy - Featurettes and galleries devoted to the film's resurrection and impact.

Disc 5 - Work Print Version & Enhanced Content:

Including the rarely seen Work Print version and potentially the 52 min.
Channel Four (UK) documentary which was the first serious documentary created for the film.

Special Features:

Blade Runner Brief Case packaging with handle

They're adding scenes?  I thought it could have been improved quite a bit by editing about a half hour out

Can't wait to see the "reenacted by bunnies" version.

Now seriously, I'd love to see the original 1982 cut on the big screen, but otherwise I'm not that interested in BR, even if it is one of my favourite movies ever. These people are going to milk the cow dry.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

LOL, Neville.  Actually the director's cut version is pretty good, they take out the annoying narration by Harrison.  Makes for a better film, IMO.

I liked the director's cut back in the 90s, but only because it gave me a chance to watch the film in a theatre screen. But I missed the voiceover, really. It is a bit too much in some scenes, but it adds a lot to the mood, and it helps to overcome the sloooooooooow pacing Ridley Scott chose. And those epilogue images would have looked great on the big screen too.

Er, now the DVD is listed as not available on that Australian site.

That DVD release sounds far too ridiculously cool to be true. I'd settle for the theatrical and directors cut cleaned up, with a bunch of deleted scenes and some doco's, if they re-released it in theatres. Alien's re-release was amazing on the big screen.

quabrot

Well, at least it's not as big a joke as the Alien Director's Cut.

OK, here's the official press info on the new DVD:

I want that shiny case!

Reshoots? I thought the added footage was to be some violent content found in the European cut and a few moments from the mysterious workprint. Surely Scott wouldn't reshoot entirely new footage for this thing, right?

Last I knew the SFX were being redone in places, but nothing about actual scene reshoots.

And the R1 version of the Aussie BR uber-set comes out in December, according to WB itself.   Hell, I admit it: the minute I can pre-order this, it's on...

Well this is a dupe posting of what I said over in News and Press Releases, but it seems relevant here too.

Yet another variation of a DVD to release and make money on. So lets do a little look see, we have released thus far that I'm aware of ...

Blade Runner
Blade Runner - The Directors Cut
Blade Runner - The Director's Cut (Remastered Limited Edition)

Blade Runner (Limited Edition Collector's Set)
BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT

Blade Runner - The Directors Ultimate Final Senitype Remastered Special Limited Collectors Edition Set

I  mean that 5 disc set is tempting, but damn then they'll come out with the 10 disc set with never before seen footage of Sean Young and Daryl Hannah running around naked or better.
