Blade Runner: The Final Cut

I was watching that AFI's 100 Greatest Movies of the last 100 years and they ran a commercial for Blade Runner: The Final Cut. Looks like it's going to have a limited release in theaters this fall. I had read and article a while back about Joanna Cassidy doing some reshoots wearing the same costume she wore when Deckard wasted her character.

This might be interesting to catch in the theater, but living here in Arkansas I probably will never be able to catch it.

They're making new scenes to put in Blade Runner?  I'll stick with the director's cut.  No need to go buy another dvd version.

The cool thing is that there's going to be a super-ulta-mega-crazy deluxe edition with the theatrical cut, international cut, director's cut, AND the new final cut.

They're adding scenes?  I thought it could have been improved quite a bit by editing about a half hour out.

Now seriously, I'd love to see the original 1982 cut on the big screen, but otherwise I'm not that interested in BR, even if it is one of my favourite movies ever. These people are going to milk the cow dry.

LOL, Neville.  Actually the director's cut version is pretty good, they take out the annoying narration by Harrison.  Makes for a better film, IMO.

I liked the director's cut back in the 90s, but only because it gave me a chance to watch the film in a theatre screen. But I missed the voiceover, really. It is a bit too much in some scenes, but it adds a lot to the mood, and it helps to overcome the sloooooooooow pacing Ridley Scott chose. And those epilogue images would have looked great on the big screen too.

That DVD release sounds far too ridiculously cool to be true. I'd settle for the theatrical and directors cut cleaned up, with a bunch of deleted scenes and some doco's, if they re-released it in theatres. Alien's re-release was amazing on the big screen.

Reshoots? I thought the added footage was to be some violent content found in the European cut and a few moments from the mysterious workprint. Surely Scott wouldn't reshoot entirely new footage for this thing, right?

Last I knew the SFX were being redone in places, but nothing about actual scene reshoots.

And the R1 version of the Aussie BR uber-set comes out in December, according to WB itself.   Hell, I admit it: the minute I can pre-order this, it's on...
