GORILLA AT LARGE (1954)
The three Universal 'Paula the Ape Woman' films:
CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN (1943)
JUNGLE CAPTIVE (1944)
UH... AND THE OTHER ONE (1945)

Coming Soon on DVD! (or not )

I believe the box for the dvd's is wrong! According to Famous Monsters #81,and cross refrenced with the Psychotronic Encyclopidea of Film:

!st:CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN (1943) stars John Carridine,Evelyn Ankers, and Ray 'Crash" Corrigan who is turned into Aquanetta.Milburn (Doc from GUNSMOKE!) Stone, also stars.

2nd:JUNGLE WOMAN(1944) Aquanetta returns, along with Evelyn Ankers.  and Milburn Stone. J. Carrol Naish is the mad doc this time.

3rd: JUNGLE CAPTIVE (1945) Has Otto Kruger as the mad doc,Rondo Hatton as Moloch(the box says comedy star...??? HUH???),and Vicky  Lane as Paula Dupree, the Ape Woman. (whew...! I'm reading this and even I'm getting confused!)

And WHY is Sammy ( BELA LUGOSI meets a BROOKLYN GORILLA ) on the back of the box?

Side note: the Wolfman type makeup was done by none other than Jack Pierce, the makeup artist who gave us the original FRANKENSTIEN, MUMMY,WOLFMAN,and many more great makeup jobs...including the monkeys in the WIZARD of OZ!!!

Hate to nitpick...but corporate blurb writers need to get their history straight,or else nerds like me p**s and moan about  it!

Actually that box set is a joke, created by someone at the 'Classic Horror' board.
'Monster Kid' humor!

If you read the back closely, among other things, it mentions under the SPECIAL FEATURES these discs would make good Frisbees for your dog.

It's kinda hard to read, though. I thought this set was for real when I first saw it, too.  :bouncegiggle:

P.S.

I don't know if you've ever seen the Classic Horror Film Board, but it's pretty cool!

I must have joined them long ago in my drunken days,as it says I have an account...but I'll be damned if I remember...it says I am "ringrong'.  Jeez...I was a boozer! :drink:

Actually I had an account with them and didn't realize it. And I don't even drink. Anyways, I've begun posting over there a little too. Helps there's so many old Scifilm regulars over there.

How could we have gone this far without mentioning the unforgettable Ro-Man of ROBOT MONSTER? :buggedout:

Yeah, he's like a gorilla with a TV on his head!   :bouncegiggle:

Hi Jase,
It seems the registration process is a bit involved?  I started, but skipped it for the moment, I get leery when they not only have long "Terms and Condiitons" but also a long "Privacy Policy" which immediately insists they will never sell your personal info...what do you think?
If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

Ozzymandias

Ozzymandias speaks: I have to mention The Monster Walks. One of a handful of "gorilla-in-the-old-dark-house" pieces of boredom.  The old rich, evolutionist uncle's relatives are being attacked by a hairy arm and everyone suspects the pet monkey in the basement. Notable for Mischa Auer's passable Bela Lugosi imitation and the most politically incorrect ending ever.  Explaining evolution to Willie Best is just asking for trouble.

Ozzymandias has spoken!!!

I haven't had any trouble with them allhallowsday. I believe I might have registered there to vote on the Rondo Hatton Awards they give out.  Think you do have to make sure you select to not have any advertising sent to you, etc..

CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN (1943)

Ahh, you beat me to it.  I must say that has some delightful work by John Carradine in it.  Has anyone mentioned Trading Places yet?  Not strictly a bad movie, but boy have I watched it too many times.

I actually LIKE "Bride of The Gorilla", with gay old Raymond Burr --
It actually has moments of real psychological tension/the old "is it all in his MIND, or NOT?" tale done not-so-bad for what was probably a dozen-dollar budget.
They don't play it for laughs at all, and though you can easily laugh at the cheesy sets, if you think of it as a play more than a film, it can really work.
peter gorilla/denny AAARRRHH!!
I have no idea what this means.

A genereal rule of thumb is if a movie features a guy in a gorilla suit, it's probably a b-movie.

Even if that guy is Rick Baker.

ESPECIALLY if that guy is Rick Baker, who gave us the FX for It's Alive! among other film delicacies.

GoreGoreGirl

the clip from The Mighty Gorga with the Gorilla fighting the Dinosaur was used in Kinky Kong, a horrible soft-core film. it's very random.

also, the actress in The Mighty Gorga is the same chick who was in She Devils on Wheels, which is an awesome movie.

in the sequel, my life will take place IN SPACE!

Who wanted to run us all in.
With a hullabaloo,
He ran us all through,
Without even breaking the skin!

Yes, I love that movie and yes, I have this memorized.
