HERCULES AND THE MASKED RIDER (1964) - This Italian swashbuckling film seems to be set in the 1500's Spain. The only thing this film has to do with Hercules is that there is a strongman called Hercules who helps out a Zorro type character who wears a red Zorro mask. The strongman is indeed Alan Steel who plays Hercules before and after this film as well as in some gladiator films about the same time. Steel is good, but is only a sidekick to the Zorro character. In the end all the good guys get all the gypsy girls after defeating the bad ruler of the region. The female stars are good especially the dancer who would of stolen the show if the film was a bit better. We are probably loosing some of the nuances to some of the Italian action films, but they are still interesting to watch. This is not really a Hercules film.

 (4 out of 5 Stars) Had a hard time getting into the whole thing.

i like this one quite a bit, though it really isn't a peplum.  the swordplay is quite good, which surprised me.

now if we could just find ATLAS AND THE SLAVE QUEEN, i'd be quite happy!

I've got this one of those 3 movie $1 DVD's but haven't watched it. I've only watched one of them and it was Hercules vs. The Mongols.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.
