FIGHTING FIST OF SHANGHAI JOE (1972) - Good Italian Spaghetti Western/Martial Arts flick shot in Spain. How's that for a combination? Not since RED SUN (1971) had we seen such a film. A man comes from China looking for opportunity and finds a bunch of racist in Western Texas (Spain) who try to cheat him out of his money and eventually try to kill him a number of times. The recruit another martial artist from the same school as our main character only he's a bad guy who sells his talents for money. They meet in the center of town for the big show down and it was a particular interest to me because it was so clear that they where using Shotokan Karate (Japanese Martial Art) instead of Kung Fu, but even this turns out ok for an interesting fight scene. The whole film is good and many moments in between like the scalp hunter played brilliantly by Klause Kinski. He's at his sickest in this film. A convincing psycho. There also another interest here with the Mexican woman who helps Shanghai Joe. Lots of good gore scenes also especially the eye removal.

  (7 out of 10 Stars) If your looking for a good B-movie. You found it right here.

If you liked this, I'd also suggest the Stranger and the Gunfighter.  Lee Van Cleef for bonus points.

Wow, never even heard of STRANGER AND THE GUNFIGHTER (1975) and you get an added bonus with Lee Van Cleef. Thanks Jim H.
