Obscure memory of a very bizarre film...

I don't know if I dreamed this or what, but when I was younger, I saw bits of this movie on cable.  I don't even remember the plot, just that characters would hallucinate that they were in some kind of TV world sporadically...in fact I think I remember this scene where one guy was getting beaten up by something or somebody in an office, and at the same time, he was hallucinating these commercial characters, including the "Fruit of The Loom" guys in the costumes at one point. 

Then I have one other memory from the same film, where the bad guy was shot at what I presume was at the end.  Suddenly after he was shot, you saw him falling dead in the middle of a commercial for I think was a workout video, because there were women exercising in the background. 

Again, this may have just been a vivid dream I remembered for some reason, but I thought I'd at least get it out in the open.
