That line comes from a WWII actioner from the 80s. I haven't actually seen it, but it seemed like the trailer was on everything I rented. In the rest of it, they show the dirty-dozen-like characters in a set of slides, each with their own particular prop. One was a preacher - his picture showed him holding a bible. One was a medic - so they show him in surgical fatigues. The other is some kind of psycho, and later on they show him killing a Nazi flamethrower-guy and saying "Excuse me. I need a light." They introduce the leader as "A man known only as Mister", and he does a slighty off-sync "At your service, general." Does anybody know what it was called ?

Cheers in advance.

are you SURE it's from a WWII movie?what you are describing sounds like a scene from a post holocaust movie,i think it's called wild in the streets?will check my file...is bruce dern in it?

chasrob

Hi. Cheers for replying.

Quoteare you SURE it's from a WWII movie ?

Pretty much.

Quoteis bruce dern in it ?

Nope. Nobody recognisable to me at the time. I thought it was called "Warriors of the Apocalypse" or "Apocalypse Warriors" but an IMDB search doesn't find anything familiar. I've just found an "Apocalypse Mercenaries" which is an italian film from about the right time, but there's no pictures for the cast or stills of the film, which is weird, but intriguing. I'll have to dig into that.

Cheers again for your reply.

Hi chasrob: I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but this sounds like the film A Man Called Sarge with Marc Singer, which came out in (I think) 1988.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Hi, Trevor.

Nice try, but that's a comedy.

Cheers for your reply.

Hi Chas,

Yes, it is "Apocalypse Mercenaries".  Something reminded me about the film earlier today and so I was just searching for info on the film via Google and found your question.  Like you I've never seen it but remember the trailer vividly from when I saw it on a Jackie Chan film I had rented.  My friends and I even made a spoof trailer based on it called "Nuclear Holocaust Assasins" starring my friend Bob as "The Man They Call... Neville".

Thank you, Simon.

I've done some more digging, but I still can't find any images or video. It seems like a lot of people remember the trailer, but haven't actually seen the film itself.
