Remember when shows had a recognizable theme, sometimes they were even played on the radio.

I've been watching The Streets of San Francisco lately and enjoy the funky theme music.

What are some of your favorite TV theme songs.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Some of my favorites:

Leave it To Beaver
Happy Days
Welcome Back Kotter
The Addams Family
The Munsters
Saved by The Bell
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell.

I love lamp.

Barney Miller
The Rockford Files
The Odd Couple
Peter Gunn
The Greatest American Hero
Hardcastle and McCormick - might find it cheesy now
Night Court
Due South (bought the soundtracks, great music on that show)
S.W.A.T.
Starsky and Hutch (the funky version)
The Prisoner
Taxi
Hill Street Blues
Wild, Wild West
Magnum PI
Mannix
The Saint
The Bill Cosby Show (The 70s show where he was high school coach Chet Kinkaid, the theme was by Cosby and Quincy Jones. I'd breakdown and get a cell phone with real ringtones if I could find one of this theme.)
WKRP in Cincinnati (opening and closing theme, wouldn't mind the closing theme as a ringtone either)
Bosom Buddies, just becasue I already liked that Billy Joel song.
and The Joey Bishop Show, just because it screams "typical 60s sitcom theme song" to me.

I sued to like themes like:

Airwolf
Miami Vice
Black Sheep Squadron
The Fall Guy

But they haven't aged well for me.
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....

Mission Impossible
The Protectors
WKRP in Cincinatti - I'm pretty sure the lyrics are complete nonsense, but it sure rocked!
Melrose Place
Dark Shadows - "Quentin's Theme" actually was a minor hit, I just heard it on the easy listening station the other day.
The Monkees - Hey hey we're the Monkey's, kid's say we're messing around.  We're too busy singing, to pull anybody down.
Star Trek - great music throughout that whole show.
Space 1999
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

I have been known to launch into a full torchsong version of this at the drop of a hat.

Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, and Good Times are more of my 70's musical favorites.

To me, The Dick Van Dyke Show had the most typical 60's theme.

THE WORST TV SHOW THEME MUSIC EVER:
My old nemesis Small Wonder. Curse you, Small Wonder!
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

The Avengers
The New Avengers (really love this one)
Star Trek
Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Doctor Who
Red Dwarf
The Incredible Hulk (esp. the closing piano tune)
"This above all: To thine own self be true!"

Scott

Dick Van Dyke was one of my favorites. There were a couple versions of the shows intro. One where he would trip over the automan and the other when he skips around it avoiding the fall.

I include the Family Ties youtube link because it's the only hard one to remember (and one of my very favorite TV themes).  I think a few of my choices were charting singles, but I can hear all of them in my head.
