It means good looking but not in the way that is considered the "norm". You could be a hot guy to some, but not the Brad Pitt, James Bond sort of guy. Does that make sense?

I haven't really aired this but my father has been in the hospital for dementia the past few weeks.  Its been a rough ride for all of us and due to my family schedule (wife, two kids) my involvement has been souly over the phone.  But luckily my mother and brother have been taking care of things back home.  It all started when he had an episode where he locked himself in my mother's car and started honking the horn.  He ended up, after a brief medical stay, in a geriatric psych ward for a week.  Now he is resting comfortably a few miles from my parent's house at a very nice rest home.  I talked to him on the phone and he sounded so pleased with the place which almost brought a tear to my eye.  I hope he can continue to be happy there because he has been on a downhill slide for the better part of a few years. 

Sorry to hear your dad has dementia, but happy to hear he likes the place!  My grandmother had dementia for many years before she passed away (from unrelated issues).  She was in a good home, but didn't like it very much, mostly because she was legally blind and deaf  so she just didn't trust anyone that wasn't her family.  Me and a couple other family members took turns spending time with her during the week.  It was really tough going up there though, she'd do things like give me her lunch menu and ask me to read it to her and when I did she'd tell me I was reading it wrong because she was sure it was a nasty letter from the nurse and she stole it from her when she wasn't looking.
