Publishing short stories is a b***h...    I don't want to go the eZine route.  I'm hoping one of the major markets will take my work.  I'm expecting rejections, though.

Good luck!  My advice is to accept any publication offer you can get.  You can always sell the next one to a major market.

See, the only thing the rugby player and I really have in common is a taste for vodka and an appreciation for her bosom.  And I've realized that I'm not going to be happy without a geeky girl, which the rugby player most emphatically is not.

Why is it that the driver always turns the car heater venting power level on low when somebody is complaining about the heat in the car?
Why not just leave it on high and only reduce the actual hot air output by switching it one or two notches into "cool" ?
If done like that there won't be condensation and fogging of the windows, and the driver wouldn't have to turn on the HOT air on full blast again (which will only result into more b***hing about the heat... again) to prevent new fogging

I finally found something harder than increasing the word count of a story: decreasing word count.

I have a story that I think could sell.  Sadly, most magazines don't want anything bigger than 10,000 words.  The word count on this thing: 13,200+.  I've gotten through about six pages and have sliced out a good 1200+ words.  Thankfully, most of what I've been slicing out has made the story much less clunky.
